Metal Monster

By Mikeytheripper

from Eugene Oregon

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar and man i had the wrong idea about EMG's and Flying V's at that,it takes a beating and throws it back louder. Most people say its hard to play sitting with a V, i'm only 5'4 and i am small but it is perfect when held right sitting down. The binding is great of Legato styling because it allows your hands to glide, and the high fret wear increase bends and allow pinch harmonix's to scream. And the EMG's being active allow a tubes preamp to really take shape, the brigde is great for solo's and the neck is great for just heavy riffs both together and you have a beast ready for metal! I wouldn't change one thing about it and the weight of it is so light it is a true flying V

A Different Kind Of Animal

By Beau Bross

from Oklahoma City, OK

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome! But beware of the EMG's - they are a different kind of animal! You will need to tweak your amp settings to get the clean channel to sound right. This is difficult, but can be done (input level, gain, compression, etc.) I have a Line6 amp so I was able to do a lot of tweaking with the amp models, etc. Distortion will sound hot and wide with a ton of sustain! Harmonics are easy. When you play complex chords, like some minor chords, some of the notes tend to get compressed more than others... You should play a guitar with 81's before you buy. The simplicity of the strung-thru bridge is excellent for tuning back and fourth to drop-D. This guitar is very fun to hold and play! It is long and well balanced. Looks great hanging on my wall too!

This has become my favorite guitar

By Zachary Goodman

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

This has because my favorite out of my modest collection of guitars. For the price range, this is a fantastic guitar with an amazing set of features. It has two EMG 81 pickups, which produce a great distorted sound for heavy metal. It can handle clean passages in a metal songs, but it shouldn't be relied upon for that. It can produce a piercing lead tone, or a more mellow, fluid sound depending on which pickup you use and how your other gear is set. It's rhythm tone Is thick and powerful, with lot of treble. The combination of active EMG pickups and a mahogany body make this great for heavy palm-muted riffs. I play thrash metal with this guitar, and it shines for both rhythm and lead. It has a very comfortable neck, with has enough girth that you can really get a grip on it, but it really lets you move around quickly without any difficulty. I would describe the neck as medium/thin D shape. The action is really low, and the guitar doesn't fight you at all. It is the most balanced guitar I've ever played standing. I cannot overemphasize how comfortably this guitar sits when I strap it on. This guitar can absolutely be played when sitting down, as long as you know how. I do it every day. The best way to accomplish this is to rest the guitar on your left leg (for right-handed players) and have your right leg sit in between the wings. I highly recommend this instrument, because it sounds great, it plays great and it is the most balanced guitar I've ever played. I shopped around for months, and this is what I ended up buying. I definitely made the right choice.

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

This definitely has a lot of postive features going for it. First the bridge, being a string thru, makes string changes much faster and easier, it also lets the V resonate more. The shape itself is very comfortable with a cut out where your body would rest against the guitar making it easier to pull close and shred. It sits nicely between your legs and lets you access the higher frets much more than a guitar that would have a horn right where you would put you hand normally, simply put, no obstructoins while shredding. The EMGs are perfect for this guitar, they really bring out the bite in this monster. If you get a chance to play one, do so, you won't look at another V.

Sharp as a blade

By Alex

from Washington DC

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

This was my first guitar. I named it something profane, and it earns its title every time I play. Some said it was too weird, others said too costly. This thing has turned out to be a guitar that is fun to play and sounds awesome. Mahogany with a maple neck, finished off with EMG pickups. This guitar gives you a solid low end and an EMG edge that screams nicely through your amp. My favorite feature, is the lightning fast neck, which ESP, and even LTD does well. Over the years Ive scalloped the top 4 frets because I realized its an easy process that you can find online, and the process came out brilliantly. Dont know if it improved my sweep speed, but certainly look cool and allow for additional bends. Construction of the guitar may not be the best, with the space in the back being barely sanded. Also, the lacquer job comes off with any dings. So prepare yourself, because that'll happen anyway on the corners, the moment you put it on the ground. Also of note is how wide it is. You wont be able to find a gig bag for it, at 18" wide. Gator extreme wont fit it despite advertisements otherwise. Overall, a great beginner or gigging guitar.

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

This Is a perfect guitar for metal. It's pretty much a less expensive Padge (BFMV) custom. If you are going for that great metal tone that Bullet then get this! This also isn't the greatest guitar for clean but the neck pickup can sound pretty good as long as you don't play very violently. The EMG 81 combo isn't available on that many guitars but is can give a surprisingly different sound between neck and bridge position. The neck is super fast and pretty much begs you to shred. The V shape isn't very comfortable sitting down but that's how all Vs are. Another plus is that it stays in tune forever. The string through helps the tone in my opinion. Overall, yhis is one of the best guitars for metal players and is extremely affordable compared to guitars 3 times as much.

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

I played a 2000 $ + G F V same thing, except better pick ups on the ESP ! more sustain, even gets a cleaner sound when volume and tone adjusted. Even cooler looking than the G V ! Action and one piece neck can't be beat.

Best V for the Price Point

By Elliot

from San Antonio, Texas

Comments about ESP LTD V-300 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is pretty much everything you would want in a "metal" guitar. It plays like a dream with its thin neck. The frets have an appropriate feel to them. The set of 81 EMGs have enough gain for any style of metal you are going to be playing. Cleans leave much to be desired, but that is expected with EMGs. The only downsides I can personally say having owned this guitar for 3 months now are that 1) The EMGs aren't really my style and will soon be changing them to Seymour Duncans (JB and SH2n), 2) The tuners could be a little better for the price. Other than that I highly recommend this guitar for an intermediate to advanced level player.
