I bought this guitar about a month ago and I'm pretty impressed. The guitar not only looks awesome but it also sounds pretty decent. The pick ups provides excellent quality sound and is quiet even with high gain. The humbucking pick up makes the harmonics sound good and loud. Playing guitar solos sound excellent in this guitar as well. The action is great too and the guitar can handle heavy gauge strings without a need for a nut adjustment. (If you use heavy gauge strings I recommend you buy more springs, nevertheless this guitar comes with 3 springs.) The only thing I didn't like about the guitar is the tone the upper single coil provides.

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar used but still in great condition. I love the Floyd Rose nut, stays in tune great but is a project when trying to replace strings.

This is also an incredibly versatile guitar with its 5 channels. The guitar is great for everything I play; jazz, rock, and metal.

The action is great, low without any buzzing. It really feels good to play.

      Great Guitar

      By James Henderson

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

I had been palying the same Kraemer guitar for over 20 years. After handing it down to my son, I went looking for a new guitar. The MH-53 was a great price and I was interested in the maple neck. I have had it a few months now and I am impressed. The neck is fast and smooth. I like the jumbo frets and going up to 24 is fun. I wasn't real impressed with the humbucker pickup at first, but I then turned the tone all the way up and it is sounding good. The best part is the tremelo. I dive bomb a lot and it will not go out of tune.

I tried out a lot of guitars at many price points. The MH-53 is a fantastic value. I highly recommend the guitar.

      darn it!

      By Nick Soper

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

overall i like it... it looks super mean and glossy... the finish is quite nice.. but if you get a chance id say play it first to see if you fit wit it... seems like a kindof odd guitar really since that mid pickup is where it is... im thinking about just removing the dern thing
i love this guitar... fast jumbo frets... light, easy to play, sounds fine... the single coils are consideably quieter than the duel coil... but eh.. whatevs... the ONE complaint that i have, other than the sorta cheap feel to the floyd rose trem (which stays in tune mind you!) is that when im picking this thing i keep hitting the blasted middle single coil with the pick... gets on my freaking nervs...
decent quality... mid range... it doesnt feel super solid... but it doesnt feel super cheapy either...
pretty darn good bang for your buck... still tho buying something better but used would be a smarter buy... you could pay the same for a used ibanez or like something else ESP makes for the same price that is of a bit higher quality, but just used... i got this cause i got a deal

      A little setup a must.

      By Jason Edwards

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

I originally ordered an MH103. It was on backorder for over a month. I stumbled across this one and it is basically the same guitar in a black finish. Pickups are the same. Carved top is really nice. High neck access is cool too. I spent about 1 1/2 hours setting intonation and adjusting the Floyd. The setup wasn't bad from the factory but it wasn't super precise. The 5 way switch is not working on the bridge pickup all the time. I e-mailed ESP about this an haven't heard back yet. I guess we'll see what they will do. HAVING SAID ALL THAT... this guitar plays extremely well. The neck is more like my PRS- sort of a cross between a Les Paul and a Strat. It doesn't have a flat profile but is still pretty quick. Pickups are not bad at all; very good for a guitar in this range. I can get some really good tones out of it.

      Everything I Wanted and More

      By 6-Button Slayer

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

This was my first guitar purchase. My other guitar was a Squier Strat I got for christmas. A must needed upgrade =)First of all, I was very impressed with the speed of delivery. I chose free shipping but I had a processing center one state away. Came in less than 24 hours! Nice Job MF!Now for the guitar. The guitar was very nicely setup out of the box, I have done nothing to it yet. The action was perfect. Nice and low the way i liked it, perfect for playing metal and other technical styles. There is a little more frett buzzing than i like, but you dont hear it when it plugged into an amp so its all good. The reviews where people say its a heavy guitar must not know what they are talking about. Its more or less medium weight.the neck is about medium too. Great feel, great tone. the clean tone surprised me it sounds really good. I plugged it into my friends Line 6 spider IV half stack and it sounded really good. Stays in tune very nicely. the tremolo is badass, i can do some sick divebombs and slayer solos.I will have to take it somewhere to get it setup probably since I plan to put heavier gauge strings in it. I use ernie ball power slinkys...gives it an extra "crunch". Ill do that when these factory strings start to get old.I researched alot into a guitar that had a strat body with a good tremolo and didnt cost alot. If you play metal...This guitar is for you. Good thrash/groove sound. I play alot of slayer, exhorder, metallica type stuff. Now i just need a good combo amp and ill be in business!

      Pretty Solid

      By Nate

      from Columbia, TN

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar a year and a half ago now, and I'm just now getting around to reviewing it. First off ill say the finish is well done, it hasn't scratched and is still shiny. Also, i learned a couple of weeks after I got it that it DOES have a truss rod which is good. The action is very low, but there isnt any fret buzz with the humbucker. The single coils occasionally buzz but i guess thats to be expected. Also to be expected, the Floyd Rose is pretty high maintenance especially when changing strings. I play alot of metal and muted downpicking, so for me getting the tremelo wasn't the right choice. The Floyd Rose bends easily so it takes just the right amount of pressure from your palm, making it difficult, but i guess thats another topic entirely. Also, another thing i would change if i could do it again would be to get two humbuckers instead of H-S-S arrangement. If your looking for a classic bluesy or strat sound, the single coils are for you. Because I wasnt, it wasn't the right choice. Overall, I would recommend this guitar to a beginner/intermediate who wants a rock or bluesy sound. If you play more metal, I would advise you to get the same thing but with H-H instead of H-S-S. In the end, it was worth the money and provided me with hours of fun.

      I'll miss it =/

      By Nick pinch harmonics expert

      from Miami FL

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

This was my first actual "good" guitar, and a nice guitar it was, I loved the maple fingerboard, very smooth (even like it more than rosewood) and no grain in the wood of the fingerboard. It's easy to reach the 24th fret without a problem, the floyd rose special bridge was insanly nice and divebombing a pinch harmonic was something that sounded freaking amazing. The pickups are ment for metel, even if you play clean it sounds like the it will get heavy. I usually stayed on the bridge pickup for anything that I played with distortion, nice rich crunchy sound, action is nice and really low, it gets slightly higher as you near the 24th fret. The neck is smoother than... marble? lol well it broke in a car accident but I f&%$ing loved that thing! ESP by the way doesn't make necks unless you are willing to order a custom one but that's big money! 295 bucks for this guitar is almost insane, worth about 350-450 if you ask me. Let me warn you, it's not easy though to change strings on this thing, it explains how however in the manual that comes with the guitar, still tricky though. One more warning, if you wanna play drop C or anything out of the standard E tuning you will have to adjust the springs in the guitar to compensate for the string tension you take away from lowering to drop C. Drop D is alright, there won'e be too much difference from E, C however, and adjusting will be needed or else the Floyd Rose bridge will be lower into the body than usual. Besides that it's a very nice guitar that's smooth quick and can scream like a baby falling out of an airplane. -Nick-

for the price - this is exceptional

      By dkelley

Comments about ESP LTD MH-53 Electric Guitar:

Former professional musician. Used to own some nice floyd-rose equipped guitars in the 90s, wanted to get back into that style again now after many years of more commercial pop oriented music.Got this basically for free, used, in trade for some rack gear from my studio that I had zero use for any longer.Needed a setup VERY BADLY - this was obviously made on an off day in the factory in china :-). Frets were bad, a couple were so high that a couple of notes weren't playable, lots of buzzing, action was all over the place, high e string kept breaking at tuner (no, I wasn't tightening it with the lock engaged... just a rough edge in the tuner).NOW after doing a setup on this guitar (myself), filing the high frets, lowering the bridge to where it should be, leveling the bridge, throwing a dimarzio EVO pickup in the bridge space (although stock pickup is a pretty good imitation of an EVO sound it turns out...), adjusting pickup heights, replacing strings (a few times)... this thing is now a KILLER guitar.Total cost to me? $40 for a used evo pickup... which isn't even that necessary unless you want a bit more bite and dynamics in your heavy lead playing. After getting this, wondering if I should bother working on it in the unplayable condition it was in, I tried the same model (well setup) at a music store and the much more expensive ($750) model in the same LTD MH line. There were subtle improvements only in teh much more expensive guitar. bigger FR sustain block, neck through, emg pickups, fancier finish and inlays. all but the looks/neck through are just upgrades to this same guitar really, so I put the work in to it and it's paid off.FAR better guitar than it deserves to be. I'd have to pay $600+ in the new market to get something slightly better, $1000+ to get something noticeably better. So why bother? This is a very very good guitar. I'm blown away!
