I stopped by Guitar Center to checkout some guitars looking with a maple neck, with H-S-S pup config and with maple top, The finish and hardware of the guitar is awesome, neck has a wonderful feel to it, the pickups are decent, whats great is the way the frets are finished which usually found on higher end ibanez prestige or korean made guitars..the guitar is made in china, but it doesnt feel like it was.the sculpted top just makes this guitar worth more than whats its current price tag. Dave(GC brookfield) was awesome enough to order me one online even before they have in stock!

Great Disappointment. I bought this guitar thru Musician Friends with very high expectations based on my personal experience owning two other ESP/LTD guitars I am very happy with (a KH-202 and a Viper 330).
I had to return it 3 weeks after I got it due to the terrible buzzing in several frets. Right out of the box, the guitar had some nicks on the headstock (a minor cosmetic issue due to careless handling/packaging). I had to immediately replace the strings to Elixir as the guitar came with D'Addario strings - which are like barbwire. The back of the neck is not finished/polished, so it feels like sliding your thumb on a 2X2 wood stud. The ESP designed active pickups are not very good either, the single coil pickup at the neck is very weak and doesn't give much sustain. With the pickup at the bridge, I couldn't even notice the difference in sound when switching from humbucker to a single coil. The 3rd string (G) when played open had a very dull sound, regardless of having brand new elixir strings.
The major issue with this guitar was the buzzing due to uneven frets all over the fretboard (1st string @ 15, 3rd string @ 14, and 6th string @ 12, 13, 14 and 15). If you like a high string action and big neck relief this may not be an issue, but uneven frets is a killer for low string action with an almost laser-straight neck (ideal for shredders).
Like I previously said, I like ESP/LTD guitars and the ones I currently own are very good, even though they are not top of the line. I really don't know what happen with this one, I thought I was upgrading for what it costs - maybe, it was just bad luck and I got a "reject" from the factory in Indonesia.
Probably a good idea to go to a guitar center and play one of these before you buy it so you know what you are getting into. I would not recommend this model, based on the price, not even to a beginner.

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

Out of the box it was ok but after setting it up to my liking it is great!
The biggest thing was the truss rod adjustment which solved all fret issues immediately.
I rarely keep a guitar "stock" and this one is no different.
I added a push/pull tone switch for coil tapping and added a mini rail humbucker in the middle position.
Now this bad boy will roar or sing which ever you desire!

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

Tuners came bottomed out, and strings were harder than most Floyd Roses to change, but it has pretty good tone, my major gripe is how easilly the saddle got stripped. I had to order new ones almost immediately, it sounds great though, wood is solidly built, metal is meh built, just be careful when changing strings, I wasn't. It looks beautiful, but not as good as it does in the picture, and it's a GLOSS finish, not a Matte or Satin like the picture would suggest. The neck is a bolt on satin neck and plays great, 24 frets of killer tone, the strings that come with it are a little low gauge, but it works great. Hope you jam out on this!

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

Okay if you know nothing about ESP or LTD let me tell you something. This was used by most great metal bands of the 80's. At one point the Big Four all used this brand of guitar and it's great for any type of metal. It's great for anything classic rock, blues, jazz hard rock. Really any type of music that uses guitar this one will make you sound great. For any metalheads reading this get some EMG's but in it i got the 81 and two S' and it sounds god like.

        Color guessing game?

        By ERIK

        from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

This review has nothing to do with the guitar other than the color, and the apparent difficulties ESP is having in their Quality Control department. Visit to Guitar Center results in falling in love with this guitar. The one hanging on the wall was a beautiful light blue with fantastic quilting. The only problem: the neck was shrunk to the point that every fret was grinding skin on either side of the neck. Las Vegas is rather low humidity, and the guitar had been hanging there for some time, but no other guitar present exhibited this neck shrink. So I placed an order for one instead. Short story, the guitar that arrived 6 days later was a substantially different color. Another "See through blue" ESP had been delivered to the store during this time, but was a borderline green. The short version is that the folks at ESP seem to have difficulty with their paint. Three guitars, all the same model, and all identified as "see-through blue", had substantially different colors going on. I refused the guitar, and am awaiting another one from the factory to see if it is any closer to the color I wanted in the 1st place. I will follow up with another review upon receipt of the next blue question mark guitar.

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

I went to my local Guitar Center to look at this Schecter they had on clearance and ended up picking this guitar up because it was in the same price range as the Schecter I was looking at. This thing blew me away. The Floyd Rose on it clearly wasn't any of the cheap stuff you'd see on some other guitars. It was pretty sensitive and worked really smoothly. The pickups sounded great. I was in love with the powerful tone that came out of that humbucker with a bit of distortion and the single coils were spectacular for clean settings. The neck was nice and unfinished, which I loved because it was a lot smoother and allowed faster playing. The guitar was pretty much perfect. It even looked nice. Came with a beautiful transparent blue quilt top.

        I LOVE THIS GUITAR

        By SCOTT

        from Ipswich, MA

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

I traded in my old jackson black guitar because I wanted something that was not so dark and scary, this is pretty close to the jason becker carvin model and is sounds and plays amazing. I initially fell in love with the maple neck, blue color, and floyd, but when I plugged in the pickups sound better than any of my other guitars. The only difference I saw from the picture and the one I got was mine sayS "ESP DESIGNED" on all pickups. Anyways it sounds and plays great. You dont need to spend a lot of money to get a nice guitar.

        Great, but a couple issues...

        By Benjamin Johnston

        from Aurora, CO

Comments about ESP LTD MH-103 Quilted Maple Electric Guitar:

I bought a M-100FM and then picked up the MH-103 a few days later to replace the guitar I originally started learning on. I use both and both guitars have the same issue with the trem arm: it will quickly come lose during use and wobbles quite a bit. Aggressively tightening the back-nut for the arm receptacle on the 100 and swapping out a different arm and it now stays in as long as it's tight. If you let the arm swing lose, it will continue to loosen and get more and more wobbly. The 103 will stay tight for about one song. The 103 will also occasionally stay flat when diving hard, but it seems that pulling the arm back will return it to regular tuning. The bridge doesn't always want to come back all the way. All in all, this is still a great guitar: it's comfortable, sounds great, looks great, and stays in tune (aside from the minor issue above). As a beginner, the trem arm issue isn't really huge. I'm having fun with it.
