Comments about ESP LTD LH208 8-String Electric Guitar:

The guitar feels great. It is really a joy to play, and everything sounds as it should without any buzz or anything. The finish is excellent and the guitar looks cool.

On the other hand, the stock pickups are not that good. They are very weak on the first string, and they feel dull on the 8th.
The short scale also makes the 8th string "muddy", but this is definitely not a deal breaker, as all entry level 8-strings have this.

I replaced the stock pickups with DiMarzio D-Activators, and now the tone is great, even though I wish I had a longer scale.

Overall, I'd say this is the best 8-string in this price range by far. I tried similar Ibanez and Jackson and they sounded awful compared to this one.

If you're begining in the 8-string world, get this guitar, you won't regret it.

Played it, didn't love it

By John

from Dallas, TX

Comments about ESP LTD LH208 8-String Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar over the weekend. I was looking for a 7 string. I looked at it and thought it might be a good thing for the price....it wasn't. 1st off, 7 strings are good. 8+ and your pushing it a little too much. Might as well play bass if you want to go that low. It was impractical for me. The low end was too muddy and lacked any real clarity. I'm not a fan. The neck was a good size. Thin and easily playable. I'm a bass player so it was a good transition for my big hands. I instead just got a thicker gauge of strings and set my LTD 330 6 string to B-B. Saved myself some dough, and got the sound I was looking for. I'm not a solo guitarist so I won't miss that high E string.

Comments about ESP LTD LH208 8-String Electric Guitar:

I went from the transition of 6-7 string guitar, but I didn't feel the satisfaction I was looking for. I originally bought a Ibanez 8 string, but it felt like I was kissing my sister(not that I have done that) So I picked out this little gem and a total difference. I play metal on a daily basis, but this girl has taken my playing to a whole new level besides the metal. Way easy to play and the tuning for it stays in tune. I even had to buy a new tuner to get the tunings I was craving. I play through a Egnater 40w tweaker and a 4x12 marshal cab and it is pure bliss to me. I think I would be lost with another 8 string after this one and am on the hunt for another one to explore more tunings and tones.

Comments about ESP LTD LH208 8-String Electric Guitar:

This is my first 8 string, and of all my choices at a low budget, I'm completely satisfied with it. I was worried at first about how it may sound bad or feel awkward with the 25" scale, but I think it sounds an feels perfect. I still have the factory strings on it, and they still sound mean, along with the pickups. So far, the only issue I've had was tuning, for tuners don't exactly pick up the low F# string too well, but using triple octaves, tuning is a breeze. It also holds tuning very well. Anyone new to 8 strings, this is a magnificent guitar and definitely a steal, with such a low price.

Best in price range

By TRAVIS WHITE

Comments about ESP LTD LH208 8-String Electric Guitar:

I got this a month ago. Its a right handed guitar the LH can be misleading. Grab some ernie-ballz 8's, until dr comes out with a 8 set. I replaced mine day one. E-E stays in tune, F# needs tweeking before and after a set. Tuners are decent. Neck is thin, and fast. I play bass and the neck is thin simular to my guitar players RGA8, but shorter. Throw some heavier strings adjust the saddle to extend the scale and jam. I played some of the other manufacturers 6 strings "Damien/ Omen" and their necks are like Baseball bats.. I got this one for a great price and it plays well.

A Killer Axe!

By John Hobbs

from Godfrey, IL

Comments about ESP LTD LH208 8-String Electric Guitar:

This is my first 8 string. Run through a digitech processor to Crate single 12. Sounds insane for metal, and clean is great too. Great guitar!
Great everything from pickups to tuners. Neck is not too wide, but it is a adjustment. Looks more hardcore than the Ibanez and Schecter.
Cant beat the price.
