I didn't expect this good of a tone from this mini axe. Strings could be a lil better, but other than that, there is nothing wrong with a mini axe compared to regular sized axes. I've found out that certain songs are alot easier to play on a smaller guitar, such as Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. I'd suggest this guitar to anyone, starters or seasoned guitarists.

I've been playin right at 30 years (modern rock)nickelback ect. type stuff. I bought it with the intention of teaching my son. The guitars intonation can't be set right on the d string I took it to a pro shop locally and they got it as close as possible...also as another review stated if you use much finger vibrato it goes out of tune quickly..wish I would have got the fender for my son now. If ESP could fix those two issues it would be an awsome guitar.

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

The stock strings suck. A guitar with such a short scale will not have enough string tension with standard tuning unless you compensate with heavier guage strings. The stock lightweight strings cause all types of issues with fret buzz, staying in tune, intonation, etc... I installed a set of Elixir Nano Heavy 12's. It's a completely different, and exponentially better guitar compared to how it played with the stock factory strings. If you buy this for a beginner and don't change the strings, he or she will quickly become extremely frustrated.

Awesome guitar! Great deal for the money!

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

The only reason I don't give this guitar 10/10 is because it was built in china. And the problem with that is I own this ESP/LTD Kirk Hammett Junior and an Epiphone Ace Frehley Les Paul. And the problem I have noticed with guitars not built in the USA even though they are inspected in the USA they are not checked properly. The one problem I have on both is that the input jack nut washer always comes loose. I always have to tighten them up. Now I have only been playing electric for 10 years and acoustic(1971 Martin D28) for 20. And I recommend this guitar for an entry level player or someone who doesn't play alot. Because the more wear on the guitar the more problems start to arise. Now I'm a huge metallica fan and Kirk Hammett is my favorite metal guitarist. Why he licensed this under his name I have no clue. But everything else about the guitar is great the inlays, the pick ups, the neck, switches and knobs all are beautiful. Even though it's only 3/4 the size of the actual kh guitars it still possess that great Kirk hammet sound. I have even added a Boss Metal Zone effects pedal which gives the guitar that killer metal sound it wants. My overall opinion it's worth the money! Buy it!

Update on KH JR

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

I was impressed with this guitar out of the box, but I just replaced the strings with Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottoms which appear to be the exact same gauge that was on it before, and man did that make a big difference. It went from sounding decent, to sounding excellent. As a general rule, anytime you get a new guitar, change the strings. You never know the age or quality of what they put on them at the factory.

Worst purchase of my carrer

By Nicholas Avery

from Creston, IA

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

The title says it. Besides its limitations in size, this guitar is really a horrible disater on your musical abilities. It never stays in tune when you apply vibrato, the pick ups are incredibly weak and pick up quite a bit of fuzz. assentially no versatality what so ever espeacially for someone who plays metal at all or anything else. Dont buy this, save you moola.

Sincerely Impressed

By Stevo0728

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

I just bought this for my 5 year old son to start teaching him the basics, he always wants to try on my full size, but just can't wrap his hands around the neck, much less hold the guitar. I had been looking at squiers and others, but the quality just was not there. I found this while looking at ESP's sight one night and read the reviews and decided to give it a chance. I received it and opened the box, it is sooo little. When I took it out, the quality was immediately apparent. Then neck and frets looked and felt great. I pulled the strings real snug on the tuners before tuning it up and then played it through my VOX Valvetronix and I am very happy with the tone and playability. I can see myself playing with it also around the house, it really is nice. I bought this as a child's first guitar and if that is what you are looking for, you will not find a better guitar. As far as a travel guitar, I think it fits that role nicely too, and when he grows into a full size guitar, he will have a nice travel guitar. Buy it, it really is nice...

Tuning issues

By lie wide open

from Calgary AB

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar to save space while travelling. It looks good, the pickups sound great but this thing will NOT stay in tune. I had it set up by a tech, changed strings, and changed tunings but it won't stay in tune for five minutes. I also think the jumbo frets were a bad idea on a short scale guitar. I am either going to sell it or gut it for the pickups which I love, But a guitar that won't stay in tune is a baseball bat. Be warned - you'll get what you pay for.

Big sound for a little guitar

By Anonymous

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays very well. The pickups sound great. You would never know that it is not a full-sized guitar when listening to it through an amp. I was surprised by the small size of the guitar, but that is one of its greatest features and the reason I bought it. It is quite comfortable to play in tight spaces. A full-sized guitar sound at half the price.

A Good Little Axe

By Stratcat From Rescue

from Rescue, Ca.

Comments about ESP LTD Kirk Hammett Junior Electric Guitar:

I've had this for almost a year now and I must say that I've been satisfied for the most part. I had to change the strings and do a complete set up before I was happy with the tuning and intonation. It's very small and travels well. It's as tough as a tank and looks cool. I've met some other travelling guitarists and they've looked at it with envy. I have strong hands and thick finger tips so I'm still having difficulty with the small upper frets and bends are challenging at times, but it beats hauling my Strat all over the place. The pick-ups give out a meaty sound through my studio amp. On the road I run it through a Vox AC-30 Amplug and it sounds fine.
