My new axe of choice!

By Fred Herbest

from Evergreen,Alabama

I've had this guitar for a little over a year now since I upgraded from the KH-202, and I've got to say that this guitar kicks tail even when played through a cheap amp. Although I miss the wood-grain neck on the 202,(which was much smoother and didn't get very sticky in humid weather) the sound of the EMG's in the alder body more than make up for it. Thrown in the Kirk Hammett sig. wah,and a BOSS CH-1 Chorus pedal...and this thing becomes unstoppable!!! I've got no complaints against this guitar,as it's well worth the price and then some!

This review is short and sweet. I bought it for my son's graduation gift for May 2012. Sounds and looks beautiful. He wanted the black. The tech guys at the Guitar Center shop in Dallas set this thing up beautifully also. Excellent action, tuned and intonated before it left the store. As much of this review is aimed at them as well for quality service. I took it work where it is in "hiding", but I had a pro play it and put it through it's paces. Excellent is all I can say. For the price it be. The price couldn't be beat with a %150 coupon from GC. You will need a case and strap with this guitar if you do not already have one. Love it.

Good guitar but a few issues

By Mathew Johnson

from Bloomington Indiana

The volume knob is too close to the bridge and so if you anchor your fingers on the body of the guitar while you play you might have a problem moving the volume knob by accident. I frequently have to readjust the volume because of this issue. Also the floating bridge is just a pain. That's more of a personal thing though. I never use it anyways so I'm going to sell this guitar and get a guitar with a fixed bridge. I also don't really like the extra jumbo frets. Really I don't even like Jumbo frets but again this is all personal preference. It's a good guitar especially if you're a hardcore metallica fan. I wouldn't buy it again if I had the opportunity but if you're looking for a guitar with a floating bridge and you have the money to spend go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Best Guitar I have ever owned

By Moise

from Anaheim, CA

I just bought this guitar used at guitar center and overall this guitar is amazing. The floyd rose is amazing and the wide variety of sounds you could make is amazing. I could whammy all I want and it stays in tune perfectly. I only have to tune it about 1 time a month. The EMG active pickups have a really good distortion and a full rich clean sound. The neck is also very comftorable and very thin. You could shred all over the neck anywhere with the 24 jumbo frets. SO if you are thinking about getting this guitar don't hesitate and go buy you won't be disapointed.

Words cannot describe!

By Andrew Rollins

from yorba linda, california

Well, I decided to buy this guitar a little over a year ago and decided to wait a year to write a review about it so I knew I wasn't giving it extra points just because it was new. Im sure many people that get this guitar want it because Kirk Hammett plays it, but I personaly got it because I love it. The specs on this model are top notch and the feel of the guitar is just incredible. It is solid, smooth, and feels so natural to play its like having an extra limb with strings. The floyd rose is great, and it stays in tune perfectly. I don't have to tune it more than once every week or so, and with me playin 4 to 5 hours at the least every day that is saying something. The emg pickups are great aswell and give out incredible tone. they can be clean and crisp or downright heavy and yet they maintain clarity. the action is perfect, not too high, not too low, and the neck allows you to shred your heart out without any resistance. the sky is the limit. This guitar gets even better with time. Kirk Hammett said that his esp guitars are like fine wine because they get better with age, and he is absolutely right. I will play this guitar for the rest of my life, no matter how many guitars i buy, this will always stun me and give me a rush each time i pick it up. Check this guitar out, you wont regret it! i wish i could rate higher than 5 stars!

This guitar is the real deal! Not one bad thing about it! The original floyd rose tremolo is so awesome, the stock strings themselves are better than the new strings on my current Ibanez, and this guitar sounds GREAT clean! But when you have the distortion going, wooh, this adds a whole new meaning to the word heavy. I'm in love with it. Buy it, ESPECIALLY if you have the cash and like Metallica.
