Awesome guitar

I got this guitar two days ago and I'm in love with it. The floating bridge is great for divebombs and it's a blast to play. I highly recommend it.

after owning this guitar for quite some time, the best advice i could possibly give is to make sure you know EXCACTLY what you are doing when you get a guitar with a floyd rose and locking tuners. first, you cannot tune the gutiar by the actual tuner pegs, because a very stong locking device is bolted on the neck that cannot be undone with your hands or any standard house tool. you can only tune using the fine tuners on the bridge, but even then you can only adjust the pitch within a very narrow range, meaning you CANNOT tune any of the strings beyond a half step or so. without getting into specifications, the way the floyd is constructed, you have to pick ONE tuning and stick with it. so, if you chose standard, that means, NO drop d, no half step down, nothing except standard eadgbe pitch. Another point,do not buy into the MYTH that your guitar will not fall out of tune, because it will, and very often, and, even with little to no whammy bar use, you have AT MOST two weeks before a string is altered to where it CANNOT be in tune, and you must have a tech fix it. Also, be aware that, because of its complexity, dealers will charge twice or even 3 times as much to restring your guitar than they would for other models, and to have them change the tuning, or even to restring it with a string size different from the previous one (e.g. nines to tens) they will have to adjust the bridge and it will count as a full setup, easily costing you 45-60 dollars. and keep in mind this is done more than or AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. the only other notable shortcomings that may not be apparnent are the 1. the pickups, which are passive pickups and not as good as active pickups, however, you cannot place active pickups in this guitar, they will not fit, and 2. the clean sound you're going to get from this guitar is just not very polished. with all of that said, the guitar does have some features that can really shine (especially for its price), but the key is making sure it fits you style. This is not a guitar made for its sound, and it won't really qualify to be put through something like a Marshall. I played this through a marshall, and no matter what i did, the tones were incompatible and it was a nightmare trying to get a pinch harmonic or hear the notes when i was tapping. your best bet is to try a line 6 and crank up the gain and maybe even a wah-wah pedal, doing this solved most of my problems, along with DR brand strings, they compliment it very well. As for anyone who is not a metalhead, per say, just be warned this guitar WILL NOT suffice the playability or tonal qualities for classics like zeppilin and hendrix or any band where a les paul or fender is used. anything even slighty bluesy, like guns n roses and and the like are not going to work with this guitar. basically, this guitar was built by kirk h. for metal, and metal only, and it does it well. you can fake a blues sound by turning you lead volume knob as far down as you can while still getting sound, but its still not even close to the real deal. go for it if you want to play metal, but otherwise put a lot of thought out there before you buy. i gave it three stars but its really relative to what type of player you are, i know this review was not a rave but easily a five star if its right for you. hopefully this helped

Nice for the price

By Lucas

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for about 6 years now and she hasnt let me down. She plays and feels great, though the pickups are kinda a let down. She sounds great with distortion, but the clean sound is just so-so. I have never really had any problems with the guitar itself. If you are thinking about putting active pickups in this guitar, DONT. You will not have enough space to put the battery in because this guitar comes stock with passive pickups. If you want to change the pickups, stay on the passive side. But overall this is a great guitar for the price.

Extremely impressed

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

Bought this at my local GC after playing the Ibanez RG5EX1 and this one. Both sounded and played great but this one felt perfect, so I went for it. They had one new in the box and it was set up at the store perfectly... I have not put it down since I've gotten it and am very pleased all around. The action/set up is perfect, stays in tune and the stock pickups are hot and sound great. Great deal for the price!

Great Guitar if it suits you

By Sanil

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

The only reason I bought this guitar was because it was like being customized for me without having to pay alot of money. The thin neck is great, the tremelo system is great, so it's good for any play with a little experience. The only thing I suggest is trying it out before buying it because many people don't like to jumbo frets. In my case, I bought the guitar because i like them, but many find it hard to play higher on the neck with them. Do NOT buy this guitar because you are a big Metallica fan. If you don't try out this guitar before you buy it, you may regret it.

Not too bad an axe

By Eric

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

After not having played in a few years, I wanted to get a decent guitar, within my price range. I used to own an American Made Randy Rhoads Jackson V and a lower price BC Rich Bich. This guitar compares well with higher priced guitars. The neck and intonation were set almost perfectly, from the factory, with only a slight adjustment need, for my playing style. The one thing that I will be changing, is the bridge pickup. I will be replacing it with EMG's This guitar was a great buy!!

Beast Guitar

By Stephen "Airz" Peters

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

Probably one of the best decisions was to purchase this puppy. Its been around 4 months and it still shocks me how well it has held up. Came out of the box sounding amazing and playing Metal on it just seems fitting. Though it was funny because I kicked in to some Jazz and it almost felt right that the guitar also play some Jazz. Overall a amazing guitar Pros Floyd Rose Whammy Bar 25 Frets Skull inlets(Always a Plus) Cons as with any Floyd Rose system, a pain to restring.

This guitar is worth the money

By Greg

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about a week ago and I am very pleased thus far. When I first got it, I thought that it would fit only my metal needs but it satisfies anything from Zeppelin to Lamb of God. The Floyd Rose is very good and stays in tune very well even during the first few days. I only had to tune it about 5 times during this week. It gets an excellent clean tone that has a very distinct tone. The distortion can go anywhere from an AC/DC feel to a Slayer feel. It is an excellent guitar in all possible ways. You could even get a jazz type tone if you needed it to. I would recommend this guitar to any player who is slightly more than intermediate and needs a flexible guitar with a distinguished tone.

IN no way disappointed

By Dabney

from madison, IN

Comments about ESP LTD KH-202 Kirk Hammett Signature Series Electric Guitar:

I always read these reviews and think, "yeah right." But I have been playing this for five days now and....WOW! My fingers literally glide across the fret board. I was playing a strat and that feels like moving through mud compared to this. The only trouble I had was adjusting to the Floyd rose system. It's almost like a ritual just to restring this thing. But after a few youtube vids I finally figured it out and I am quite happy!
