Overall this is a perfect guitar in my opinion. The weight makes you feel like you're holding a weapon, and not some cheap block of wood. Screaming EMGs will give you just the tones you're looking for. I could go on all day about this guitar - just go to a local shop and play it for yourself! I'd recommend it to anybody in an extreme music genre. But boy oh boy does she scream some death metal.
I have the Floyd Rose version of this guitar, however the general features should be the same.
The EMGs sound fantastic, I have only used the 81 - due to playing death metal.
The typical ESP neck is extremely smooth and easy to play.
And on mine, the Floyd Rose Special has actually stayed in tune with some degree of palm muting. So that was a nice surprise - considering I'm a prominent Kahler user.
The reason it doesn't have a 10, because it should have a Kahler 2300.
Amazing quality from ESP/LTD as to be expected.
I bought mine from a local guitar shop that's closing down. When I got it the tone knob was loose, the floyd was recessed into the body by just a little (nothing to bad), and had a couple of chips in the paint (gives it personality).
Despite these road-bumps I've managed to fix everything within two hours at my home. And now you can't even tell I bought it from a shop.
I'd say this guitar has amazing value for the money.
For those who have the Floyd version, my only advice is to be patient when setting up the bridge. Look at "how to" videos online and find the proper way to set it up/ re-string it yourself.
Again, this guitar is road worthy from my short time with it. A bunch of dings and rough patches from being in a guitar shop. But it still plays like it's new!
I have been playing this guitar at least 2 hours a day since it arrived at my house from guitar center about 3 weeks ago. This thing has insane amounts of power. The EMG's make this the metal guitarist's dream. For Metallica fans such as myself, there isnt a better feeling than looking like the one and only James Hetfield while shredding away. The one peice neck thru construction gives this guitar great sustain for those long open chords. With only 22 frets and a medium height on the action, this is a true rythm guitar. Rock on fellow metal heads and BUY THIS GUITAR
this guitar is a must for all you metalheads who are also tones-chasers
-Got some rockin active EMG 81-60s but I prefer me some seymour duncans
-neck-thru with finish on the neck, I prefer an unfinished neck
otherwise I'd give it a 10
plays awesome! and depending on your rig set up the distortion and tone balance is brutal!
I bought mine brand new in 2009, could drop the price a bit...
