Comments about ESP LTD EC-331 Electric Guitar:

This was the first guitar I've owned with active pickups, and it surpassed every expectation of mine. Right out of the box, it sounded amazing. Had to raise the bridge a bit and change the strings, but after that it played perfectly. The intonation was already set dead on, which I thought was nice. The G string tends to go out of tune quite a bit, but that isn't too big of a problem. Overall it's the best guitar I've had yet.

Comments about ESP LTD EC-331 Electric Guitar:

This is a professional grade guitar, while still being affordable. All mahogany, set neck, rosewood fretboard, and actives. definitely reliable and road-worthy. The pickups are decent for rock sounds, but for metal, EMGs are a necessity, especially if you're serious about your tone or in a band. I put an 81 in the bridge for mine (I bought mine in satin black). I didn't get a 60 in the neck yet because it's not that much of a necessity for me, considering I play metalcore. But the EMG matches the guitar perfectly because the mahogany gives it more bass while the EMG brings out the treble. It stays in tune decently, it's not crazy bad or crazy good. I have mine set up for Drop C with D'Addario 12-60s. The strings sound a little beefy, being a 24.75" scale guitar, but I EQ'ed my Vypyr VIP 2 so it matches. The neck of the guitar is very comfortable, not too thick or too thin (more than an Ibanez), so it doesn't stress your thumb as much. And the single cutaway + 24 frets makes it easier to reach higher notes, making sweeps much easier. The thickness and weight of the guitar are perfect so I don't feel awkward or stressed when I stand up and play. I would rate the guitar a 5, but it kinda sucks getting the guitar and then having to pay more and wait more time to have the EMGs installed.
