Great guitar

By Carlos Santos

from Cheyenne, WY

I've been playing for 30 years or so. I've owned a lot of guitars in that time, and currently own an 01 Jackson Performer and a 91 Hamer Californian. I recently purchased the LTD H-1001FM after a lot of research. This guitar is just outstanding and does not disappoint. If I can ding it on 2 things, they are these. 1. Does not come with a case. 2. Had a small chip in the corner of the bridge pickup ring because it was put on too tight. I actually found the chip in the box and was able to superglue it back on . It was small, and I wasn't going to send the guitar back for a tiny chip in a 3 dollar pickup ring. Other than those two issues, once I got the truss rod adjusted properly, it ripped. Action and intonation are pretty accurate. Guitar looks great, sounds great (set neck) and with the EMG pickups scream without sounding muddy. I am very happy with my purchase.

Too much fret buzz

By Andy

from Plano,TX

I bought this guitar three days ago. The guitar itself looks just beautiful. There is a too much fret buzz from low E and A strings in standard tuning. Drop D makes the fret buzz even worse. I will be returning this and probably getting something else. Believe it or not, my Epiphone SG prophecy sounds way way better than this ESP LTD H-1001.

I really love this guitar!

By grviva

from Israel

I have it for 2 weeks now - i bought it after 15 years of owning a japan made Ibanez RG 770. I am just too sick of messing with the floyd trem and i wanted a fixed bridge guitar. Pros: * No floyd - you can drop D and rest your palm without going out of tune. Setup is very simple - no annoying spring systems. * Set through construction - great sound, easier playing top frets, guitar goes not go slightly out of tune if i play laying in bed like my Ibanez does due to less sturdy bolt on. * Locking tuners - allows me to replace strings in 2 minutes without effort. This was really new to me, no need to wrap around the string on the tuner. You just lock the string using a locking wheel and trim it. Fast and elegant. * Great sound - i was really suprised about sound. This guitar is really cheap in $ but it is great value. Sound is great both in clean and distortion. Sustain is really much better compared to my Ibanez. The EMGs just sound awesome. * Feels great - the neck is a just a little bit thicker than my Ibanez's but i now really like it better because i feel it fits my hand better. I love it. * Looks good - but looks are a matter of taste :) i got the red flamed maple model and the color is deep and slightly darker than what it looks like in the pictures. I like the abalon on the body, like it less on the neck but it is impressive. Cons: * Pickups are close to strings - you might hit them every now and then. * Active pickups needs a battery - they say battery life is long but its still annoying now i have to remember to pull the cable out every time i finish playing to save battery time. * Comes setup using .10 string gouge size - which is a bit too stiff for my taste - will send it for 0.9 string setup soon.

A must have for your collection!

By JJ

from DePere, WI

Really a top notch guitar for the money! Positives: -Stays in tune, comes with S.I.T. strings. -EMG 81/85 pickups rule! -Beautiful top. -Esp locking tuners make changing strings a breeze. -Fast neck. -Abalone binding really awesome. -24 frets -Great tone and sustain. Negatives -Pickups come mounted up pretty high and are easy to hit with your pick. -Only allows you to play from top/bottom or both humbuckers, no single coil. I am very happy with it and highly recommend this guitar!
