Overview

The body of the ESP LTD D-6 Bass Guitar is shaped out of merbau, a hardwood native to Southeast Asia giving it a dark hue similar to mahogany. In fact, if it wasn't for the lighter maple of the 5-piece maple/mahogany neck-thru design, you'd have a hard time discerning that this was a neck-thru design from outside appearances as the dark woods are a very close match. The neck itself is a thin "U" shape with a double cutaway design making it easier for players of all sizes to access the frets with ease. This standard scale (34") 6-string bass sports a 54mm standard nut, 24 XJ frets, a rosewood fingerboard, Grover tuners, an ESP DB-6 string-thru-body bridge, and black nickel hardware. The electronics include dual ESP SB-6 (bridge & neck) pickups with an ESP ABQ-3 3-band active EQ which lets you boost or cut lows, mids, and highs before the signal ever hits your amp.

Case sold separately.

Comments about ESP LTD D-6 6-String Bass Guitar:

I did a lot of research on this bass, and when looking at photos, was not crazy about the satin finish...but once I got this in my hands I changed my mind. The satin finish is beautiful. The wood and stain looks really great and I love how this thing plays. The electronics (Pickups and EQ) sound really good to my ear, and I love the fact that it's a neck through body, which amazes me at this price. Totally worth every penny and more.

    ESP LTD D6 Bass

    By Alex Yocum

Comments about ESP LTD D-6 6-String Bass Guitar:

I absolulty love this bass! Well worth the money and fairly cheap for the quality that you get with it. Neck through body, beautiful body, not too heavy at all for the size of it. I got a good deal and got mine for 200, but now that i have it, I would have paid at least the 500 for it, maybe more. You will not regret getting this bass and it will be one that I will keep for the rest of its life.

    Awesome bass

    By dominique hall

Comments about ESP LTD D-6 6-String Bass Guitar:

I got this bass last year, to play dream theater and other Progressive music. it held up for quite some time, great string spacing, pick up placement, and the neck was the best part, measuring at less than an in in depth. Problem being. the ESP pickups and EQ sounded like pure mud and got no definition on notes played on lower strings. and to much definition on high strings. the bass was sturdy and withstood a fight with a drummer. smacking it against a wall. the bass was way to heavy coming in at 23.5 pounds and being made out of merbau why? that's what my floors made out of! please save yourself and get a padded strap if your going to get this bass. if you don't care about the things listed. it will be your best friend, (pickups can be changed too)

    I love the D-6

    By Martin Kandell

    from Albion, Michigan

Comments about ESP LTD D-6 6-String Bass Guitar:

I received my ESP D-6 6 string electric bass from GC a few months back for my birthday, and I've got to say that I love it. It plays quite well for me, and I like the fact that it's of neck-through construction since there's no annoying heel to confront when I play.

    Best 6 string unders $500.00

    By Manuel Cantu

    from McFarland CA

Comments about ESP LTD D-6 6-String Bass Guitar:

I have been playing for over 20 years. I personally own and play a Ken Smith BSR5MW and a modified Fender Jazz. I wanted a neck-thru 6th string but did not want to play over $1000.00. I read all the reviews I could find and heard the 4&5 string versions of this bass on youtube and was impressed. I bought it here at GC, replaced the p/u's with bartolini's and the pre-amp with an Aguilar OBP-3 and now it sounds as good as most $4000.00 MTD's. Clear clean piano like sounds for under $1000.00 with the mentioned upgrades. Ryan, the Instrument Tech at GC in Bakersfield is Phenominal, he Meticulously and professionally installed my electronics, give him a call.

    ESP LTD D6

    By Vern Parsons aka Verndog

    from Weatherly, PA

Comments about ESP LTD D-6 6-String Bass Guitar:

Ready to fly out of the box. Even in tune!!! Very fast, very little tweaking on the action. Absolutely awesome fat and clear tone. The wood is a great choice, and the finish is beautiful. The EQ on the bass is very sweet too. Flat is perfect, but a little, I mean a little turn of the bass makes you feel it, mid range is the perfect Q range that pops out the notes in the mix, and the high eq just makes for a bell sound in the harmonics. As for the price, it is under priced!!! I have been shopping for a while, and this sounds, plays, and looks better than the $1200 dollar ones I tried. This is a great deal!
