Overview

As lead guitarist for American mathcore band Dillinger Escape Plan, Ben Weinman requires a diverse yet distinctive instrument. So, in turn, ESP has produced for him the BW-1, a semi-hollow electric that's as unique as it is a bargain.

It offers a chambered mahogany body with a flamed maple top, maple neck-thru construction, 25.5" scale and 24 extra-jumbo frets with an ebony fingerboard on a thin-U neck. A pair of EMG 81 (B) & 85 (N) active pickups pushes killer tone down your signal path. An Evertune bridge anchors the strings to the body while LTD locking tuners keep everything cinched down and in tune through heavy crunches and string-stretching leads.

Comments about ESP LTD BW-1 Ben Weinman Electric Guitar:

Ok, I waited until I used this guitar at a gig to comment. I was not sure about buying a Korean guitar again due to bad past experience. On my last one the the frets wore out after 2 years of use. By contrast, I have a Japanese Tele from the 80's that I purchased then that the frets are still in very good shape. That being said, this Korean guitar is well made indeed. The Evertune bridge is the most amazing innovation to the guitar in decades. I play in a cover band that plays 3 one hour sets a night and staying in tune is always an issue when time between songs has to be very quick to keep up the pace. I did not have to tune the guitar since it has arrived from guitar center. I took it out of the box in perfect tuning. Crazy I know! On a couple of songs that the guitar player starts the tune solo, I always sweated it, but man what a dream it is to be in perfect tuning all night especially when it was really needed. Also, I know a lot of guitarist hate the concept of EMG pickups. I do not play metal at all, but having no pick up hum problems at these clubs with bad wiring, and high enough output to go through pedal boards and long cables and stay bright and clear is a godsend. To me this is a work tool, and I need less tech problems not more. Plus being able to change pick ups like a set of strings to experiment without having to take the guitar to the tech dude is just cool. For the cost of this guitar you get Evertune bridge, EMG pick ups, great classic styling, and a solid guitar. What's not to like. Awesome purchase!
