Good Thing, Small Package.

Comments about ESP LTD B-4JR Short-scale 4-string Bass Guitar:

The B4-Jr is a "basic" bass with a shorter-than-short 28-inch scale, most likely intended for small young hands. That said, I've owned several short-scales in recent years and my not-so-young hands and creaky back really appreciate this one! It's incredibly light on the shoulder, the short-scale is great for guitar players, and the action can be anything you want. Personally, I play more jazz, blues, and acoustic than hard rock and prefer a fairly flat neck with low action. No problem, a little tweak with a 4-mm Allen wrench and mine virtually plays itself. But that's not the whole story. The fit, finish, and look of this instrument are very well implemented for an entry level product. I mean, really good when compared to some other low-cost bases out there. Not just made in Vietnam, but well-made in Vietnam! Even comes with a gig bag. Bottom line -- it is a short-scale bass and you can't fool mother nature. If you beat it up and slap it silly, it's not going to sound like a big Fender with long fat strings. But, for casual playing, practice, jamming, demos, or laying down a solid foundation under your coffee-house combo, I think it's great! If my dog eats it, I'll buy another one.
