Comments about ESP LTD ARC-12 12-String Acoustic Electric Guitar:
I've had it about a month and put 20 to 25 hours on it. it's made in Indonesia. I first saw it on a NAMM video and it called my name - i've been looking for a 2nd 12 string because my Ovation 12 is over 10 years old. I like the clean, simple look and this guitar is gorgeous. the mahogany has a nice grain and finish, the spruce looks good too. the back of the neck is shiny, but not sticky. the tuners are Grover (better than i expected at this price) and the knobs are a cool color - i'll call it "butterscotch pearl" the binding and frets look and feel smooth. the fretboard markers look like abalone/mother of pearl. the neck is 3/4" deep at the 9th fret. the thinline design (the body is 2" deep)fits well with a strap standing up or sitting down resting on my leg. the body is heavy enough so that it's not top heavy, but overall is lighter than my Ovation. the guitar plays well and sounds good. as you would expect, not a lot of acoustic projection. tone through an amp or pa has nice resonance. the output of the preamp is less than my Ovation (OP30) but the tone is very good and the tuner on/off switch doesn't require "press and hold" to turn it off. Also, the tuner display has a green backlight so it's easy to tell when the tuner is on (and your output signal is off) a few minor nits: the soundhole binding (which is cool) is not smooth/finished - you can see stuff hanging off of it you need a screwdriver to replace the battery (a cover on the back of the guitar) the tuning machines were loose i broke a string in less than a week - replacing the strings was interesting. the angle of the string pass-through in the bridge is straight, then there's a fairly steep angle to get the string out of the bridge cutout and over the saddle. i had to use a paper clip to pull the string up. overall i'm very happy with my purchase (thanks Eve ant Columbus GC!)
