The ESP EC-50 Electric Guitar is one of the best values in a serious, hard-rocking electric guitar. The EC-50 sports a pair of ESP LH-150 pickups that generate super sustained distortion. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard on a basswood body provides great resonance while the shorter 24-3/4" scale makes note bending a breeze.

I haven't touched a stringed instrument in 20 years. I am now committed to so many famil-related events that time is precious and efficiency is a must. I didn't want to commit a lot of money to start over again and but with that in mind I still spent weeks during my lunch hour hunting for a deal thinking pawn shops, craiglist, and ebay were the way to go. I found nothing that was in the shape I expected it to be in or the cost I expected the purcahse price to be given the item's condition. In hindsight I shouldn't have bothered. I should have just purchased this guitar saving time AND money. It was near flawless when I received it. Setup was so good Guitar Center's on-site luthier tried to improve upon the setup but admitted he couldn't do much better because it was setup so well already from the factory. The action is just right for this "beginner" and the sound options are very flexible. The bolt-on neck design is very smooth vs comparable Fender's with their blocky neck/body joint. The body shape fits just right when playing seated. It's balanced well, solid, internally well-finished, and I rarely spend time tuning it. Now, do I lust for something better? Sure! Who wouldn't love the something at the premium end of the guitar spectrum. But I can't justify the cost at this point given my experience. When considering price/performance, this guitar's a no-brainer as long as you're comfortable handling it.
I've had this guitar almost a year and have had no problems. It is really a terrific guitar, and I recommend it to all my friends that need an inexpensive guitar. It plays incredibly smoothly, and the neck is great for fast picking. The body looks great with the LP style, and the pickups are great. I recommend this to anyone wanting to buy an awesome guitar for cheap.
I've owned one of these EC-50 for 4-5 yrs... can't remember exactly. The neck is very comfortable.. the smaller frets are great for playing fast licks, but become imposibly small at the last 2 frets (out of 24). The pick-ups are beyond accetable at this price range, but don't compare to the tone you get from the cheapest fenders or even some Squires. I own this guitar, a Strat and a Jaguar. They each have a diferent "personality" and what I ended up doing with this ESP is putting .11 strings on it to expose as much of its tonal features as possible. The hardware is decent in quality and over-all the guitar is durable and can take a beating. I've used it in a couple of gigs and at church, but in places where the accoustics let the tone of your instrument shine, nothing beats my other two guitars. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a guitar in the 200 range that is playable out of the box. However, don't buy blindly. At this price range Quality control is questionable, so you need to walk into the store, try quite a few guitars and buy the one the sounds good, plays good and has no major finish flaws.
I have played and owned this guitar for 2 years now. This guitar definitely isn't pro level, but not bad for the money. I love the neck on it very easy to play and comfortable. reaching higher up on the frets can be a bit of a bear, but that's ok by me because I don't use them really anyway. Other positives: good sustain, no fret buzz(you might have to mess with the action a little), and the pickups aren't half bad. The bridge is great for heavier rock/metal tones. the Split middle position will give you more of the twangy sounds. The neck position has nice smooth tones, and really brings out the characteristics of the wood. The biggest problem I have with this guitar is the body. It's pretty heavy for being made with basswood, and the back of the guitar doesn't feel very good against my chest. In my personal experience, the strap button by the neck completely came out on me whilst holding it. Luckily it didn't fall to the ground. I think this was partly due to the cheap plastic strap locks I bought that just go over the regular strap buttons. So I tossed those, split a match, stuck it in there, put the screw back in and all is well. If you are a new player and don't really know anything about guitars, this will be a good match for you, and it won't break the bank! 5 stars for low price and being a pretty solid guitar for your first.
Hey for those of you who have this but have played a fender strat would this be more worth it? I'm thinking of buying!!! Looks great sounds like its reliable!
i got this guitar for xmas and i love it. it was great for the price. the pick ups are nice, the neck feels great. it is the perfect size too. if you want a good guitar and dont have the money get this!!! you will be pleased.
I went to a whole bunch of stores looking for a cheap guitar to mess around with. I found a lot of them weren't worth the money. the pickups were terrible on most of them. then i came to the esp ltd ec-50. i liked it the most for the money because it had a good sound and price, and the pickups and feel was good. I would recommend this to be a beginner electric guitar. don't bother with the Squire or stagg (no offense)i tried them and i didn't like them at all.
i bought this guitar about three month ago and i am loving it. i have only had to tune it once and that was to tune it when i bought it. this thing never goes out of tune! the sound is superb on it. ive played alot of guitars either my friends guitars or playing them at a local store. the sound of this guitar is better then anything i have played. i have a peavy vyper 15 watt and it just adds greatness. i have the tobacco sunburst finish and its so unique. best guitar for the price of it. also if you want a les paul look but with a more hard rock look to it this is the guitar. the only problem i have had with it is some of the skrews on the knobs and the pickup but all you need is a skrew driver to fix that up. other then that its a great guitar!
This guitar is a great value. THE pickups are great, great tone and sustain. The action was a little to high but once lowered it is fantastic. I love the finish on the guitar, mine has the beautiful sparkling red finish, which looks alsome under lights. I love this guitar more every day.
First of all, this guitar is amazing considering the price. After a good setup, the action is amazing with no fret buzz, and the guitar constantly stays in tune. It also holds up extremely well when u change tunings, and it just looks incredible. The only problem is that over time the pickups start to lose sustain, and the guitar is definitely suited to higher string gauges. BUY THIS GUITAR
