Love this bass!

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I saw this on-line and bought it sight-unseen. Best purchase ever! It's got great full, rich tone. It's surprisingly easy to play. I've got more expensive basses but this is my favorite. I don't play any slap bass. If there's any down side to this bass that might be it. I don't imagine this would be easy to slap and pop. I play jazz, community theater musicals, but mostly I do the rock!

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

Played classical acoustic for 35 years and occasional bass. Been playing a reg 4 string bass for about a year in a 3 piece band. Couldn't find an 8 string to try so I bought this one on line and I am blown away by the easy way it plays. Was comfortable after just a few hours. Awesome tone and action. Came set up perfect for me. No trip to the guitar dr. For this kind of money you absolutely will not go wrong. If you want to double your sound and really fill in the dead spots, trust me, go for this bass. 5 stars all around and it was delivered in flawless condition a day early!!! Love it!

Great Sound for a Great Price

    By JEFF TRIBBY

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

When I was looking for a bass with a different sound, I was immediately drawn to the idea of an 8-string but at a price that wouldn't break me. I checked out all the 8-strings and quickly picked the one I thought was most pleasing to my eye as well as affordable. I picked the ESP 8-string with its see-through finish and active EQ. When I picked it up at the store and saw it in person for the first time, I knew it was love at first sight. I got it home and tried it out and bonded with it even more. I can do harmonics that are not possible with a non-double stringed bass. It's voice is very full and clear and has a bell-like chime to it. I feel I got the best bang for the buck. The bass itself came to me in flawless condition, no blemishes or smears at all. I highly recommend this bass to anyone who wants a different and distinctive sounding bass. I now have four basses, and they all have very different voices. This ESP rounds out my collection beautifully. By the way, it's not nearly as heavy as I expected, fairly light for a bass, in fact, and it stays in tune better than a couple of other basses I have. I know I'll enjoy this baby for a long time to come.

What a voice this baby has!!

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I got this 8-string around a month ago after a three-week backorder wait, and wow, was it ever worth it! For what it's worth, CG generously offered me a Dean Edge-8 at the same price ($50 more than the ESP) in place of the ESP, but I stuck with my original order. It's got quite a voice, too, about what a Rickenbacker 12-string guitar would sound like with a deep voice. It's very clear and crisp, and I can do harmonics with it that are just not possible with a non-double-stringed instrument. I dropped the low E to D, and it sounds great. I play it through my Boss ME-50B using reverb-chorus and sometimes a heavy distortion or overdrive. Sounds awesome, like something from another world. This is one very happy camper. I have four basses now, all very differently voiced. I highly recommend this bass. It's affordable, very well constructed and finished, and I like the 24 fret-neck (34" scale, by the way). I don't know hwy more people don't get one. You really, really should think about it. It's no more difficult to play than a four-string. Check it out! Just do it!

Fill Up Your Sound Without Emptying Your Wallet!

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple TopThis bass was made for the power trio. This bass has a beautiful top and nice balance for a bass in this price range. But the real fun came when I plugged this puppy in. My test rig was Gk Backline 600w head through a 4x12 cab. Similar to a 12str guitar played through a sub octave pedal. Nice harmonics and when you kick in the overdrive, look out! fire your rhythm guitar player and get yourself the B-208FM.

It will be mine... oh yes, it will be mine.

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I test drove one of these basses at GC awhile back through a Gallien-Krueger Backline amp with a delicious overdrive circuit. Monster riffer madness. Fills in a lot of space if you only have a guitar player. THEN I played it clean. With a flanger or chorus pedal, this thing would sing. If you love Cheap Trick, King's X, Galactic Cowboys, Pearl Jam, and/or anything on Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood, this is a great place to start. Can lay down some serious Audioslave or Rage Against The Machine without a guitar player.

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

Alright, I heard about these 8 string basses and the first thing I thought was, "Oh god back problems for as long as I live..." I was happily mistaken! It was totally like a 4 string! The octave strings are so fun! This bass is composed of pure awesomeness! It gives you a new sound to what ever you want to play. Drop tune it, still sounds awesome. You don't even need a guitarist anymore!

    Better than a 12ver

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I got that Dean Rhapsody 12 (on ebay). It sounded good, but I later found out that I couldn't play it very fast so I got this bass. The extra strings (that are one octave above the main ones)effected my speed not too much, and I sound better than ever. So my advice to those decinding to buy either a 12ver or a 8ter, the 12vers sound better but the 8ters you can play faster. I used a two amp rig (1Marshall, 1Ampeg). If you don't have that kinda of money you can get a couple of Fender amps and pedals and it will still sound good.

    Adds a little something

    By Jester-6FHQL

Comments about ESP B-208FM 8-String Bass with Flamed Maple Top:

I just played this bass today, and I loved it. The previous 8 string that I played slowed me down to much. I play mainly funk stuff, like Victor Wooten, and some of his stuff you can't do on it (like the thumb double pick stuff). But with some slight adjustments, you can play most everything funk on it. It takes some getting used to, but it adds another dimension to your playing that you can't get any other way.
