  Affordable, reliable, and versatile. Great semi-hollow with not as much buzz as most semi-hollows. Great for metal, rock, blues, jazz, whatever. Overall this is just a great axe.

• Forget about this price - this is an AMAZING guitar

  I've had my lovely metallic red PS-1 for about 8 months. I admired these online for almost 2 years before I finally found one to play. I was concerned that the price indicated the quality. When I did finally find one I could pick up and play - I was blown away with the first strum and bought it on the spot. Until I bought this guitar, my primary guitar was a vintage, American-made Gibson SG Special, and I almost never pick that up anymore. This guitar looks amazing, and the tone is just phenominal. I use 10 gage flatwounds on it, and the action playing flats on this guitar is really just sweet. The guitar plays great, has a gorgeous natural sustain and is the favorite in my collection - though I recently picked up another excellent guitar (to remain unnamed here) for about 10 times the price. When I was trying to find a physical specimen of the PS-1 to play, I told a salesmen at one store that I was looking for one, and he asked me why I was looking for this guitar that I've never seen or heard. When I mentioned the price he told me, "That's just disappointing that ESP is selling guitars that cheap." Like I said, the price will pique your interest, but forget about it. This guitar holds its own against all of those ungodly expensive guitars, has a character all its own, and will have you doing crazy things like writing reviews of it so others will know it is an unbelievable deal. All that said, the only thing I concern myself with about this guitar is that at some point the nut may need replacing. I say that only because it is plastic - not because it's showing any wear or negatively affects the tone. The electronics are excellent and responsive - which, other than the feel of this guitar was my biggest pleasant surprise. If you're reading this - just go get it. You will be happy for a long time afterward!

• Ups and Downs

  This is a great guitar for its price, no doubt. It's very versatile and has a wide range of tones though the the bass is a bit dark at times. The only reason I'm dropping this guitar from 5 stars to 3 stars is because a month or so after I got it, the volume knobs both stopped working. I brought it in to get it checked up and turns out they didn't wire the electronics well at all and had to get new volume potentiometers. The guitar may look nice on the outside, but you won't know its insides till you take it home.
