No complaints! Sleek looking 8 String that handles really well! Nothing beats it, good luck finding another Neck-Thru 8 string within this price range! Pickup up placement is a little unorthodox but isn't an issue.
I've been playing guitar since the early 90's and have owned around a dozen guitars from acoustic twelve strings to tremolo sporting superstrat thrash machines, but nothing i have ever put in my hands can come anywhere near this beast. The action is as fast as anything i've played and smoother than butter. The EMG 808's sound as close to perfection as any pickup made, when played through a clean channel the sound is vibrant and absolutely crystal clear and if you play it through distorted or dirty channel you won't be disappointed. Most of the complaints i've read on esp's chat room are about the weight of the guitar and the pickup placement. Yes it is true it does weigh slightly more than a six string (about 27.3 pounds) but if you have anything other than a small childs body you should have no problems holding it. Pickup placement is a little unusual but believe me Stef knew what he was doing when he drew up his design. I ordered this guitar on backorder so it did take 62 days for it to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. The quality of the finish and detail of this guitar is better than any i know of and any Les Paul would be jealous of the never ending sustain the SC-608B possesses
After checking out all the others, this mahogany baritone scale (27") 8 string not only makes this imho the best looking 8 string out there period, it also keep the string tension tight like a six string. A 25" scale is gonna have more slack in the strings. Next- huge sustain, I replaced the plastic nut with a black water buffalo horn nut to increase sustain and added a second 9v battery for 18V pickups(improves punch), and this thing sounds ridiculously good for any style of music. This guitar has more sustain than all my others. High gain is dealt with beautifully and I couldn't imagine anything better for those lows. EMG nailed the voicing for an 8 string, nobody is gonna beat these pickups for a 8 string. If you are looking for a tremelo 8 go with Ibanez but you will lose sustain compared to a string through body solid bridge like this hipshot solid stainless steel that has a lot of contact with the body wood for a lot of vibration transfer which is part of the great sustain here. I use floyds on six strings but not an 8. You will not regret getting one of these, it is sick I wish the fretboard was ebony like the ESP version but oh well I still love this thing.
