Despite being the best sounding guitar I've played along with decent playbility, the bridge, intonation, and upper fret access is terrible. I set up the bridge with new strings of a different, and the intonation is still bad. The upper fret notes are pretty flat in pitch. Though the bridge stays in tune when used as a fixed bridge, it doesn't stay in tube when used as a tremolo bridge. I think the following applies for most cam style Kahler bridges. Setting up the bridge for certain string gauges can't be done properly, because certain screws can get in the way of the strings. It's also easy to pop the strings out the rollers it rests on. The upper frets are hard to reach because of the bulky area where the neck bolts on to the body. Most Ibanez guitars that use the bolt on method have upper fret access nearly as easy as a guitar that uses more expensive neck joining methods such as set neck and neck through.
I went into another Guitar store chain and played the ESP Eclipse II Standard, through a Marshall Mini-Stack and was not impressed. Then for the hell of it I plugged in the JH-200 (minus trem bar) and the guitar felt and sounded awesome. Neck was beautiful, p/u's sounded awesome and Kahler bridge stayed in tune. I never wanted a guitar with a trem, but after seeing the Kahler I would only buy a guitar with a kahler or tune-matic+stop bar or string-thru. Awesome guitar. If you dont mind the cheesey LTD logo then get this guitar!!!!!!!!!
I purchased a JH-200 a couple months ago. It plays and feels awesome. I like it better than a few other guitars I was interested in that were a lot more money. Plus the finish is flat instead of glossy so you dont get finger prints everywhere when you play it.
