I got this bass about two weeks ago, and I am VERY impressed with the quality of this bass, cosmetically it was perfect, not a single blemish, and the playability is very nice, no fret buzz and the setup was very close from the factory, although I am still going to have my tech, fine tune it. I also like how quiet the electronics are, no hum, buzzing or any other annoying thing typically found in mid range instruments. The 9v battery is hard to install, they could have given a little more room to get to it, I had to use a screwdriver to assist me.

  • Good, but flawed

As reviewed by Jude on 4/26/2011

Well built, good quality bass. The only problem is fret buzz on the E string. To dial it out, you have to put a lot of relief in the neck and/or raise the strings, which slows down the action. Also make sure to buy extra long scale (35") strings. Regular long scale strings are not long enough. After buying this bass, I tested several other ESP basses in the store, even the expensive non-LTD model and all of them had buzz on the E string. I also tested several Ibanez basses and none of them had a problem. It has a good sound and a lot of control over the sound, but I'm wishing I had bought an Ibanez. I gave it a 4, but it's really a 3.5 to 3.7.

  • Awesome instrument

As reviewed by Steve on 5/17/2010

I've had two of these style basses through the years. They're such great instruments that I couldn't stop buying them. The scale is slightly smaller than a Fender which is what I mostly play now. It's a very fast neck and what attracted me most was how light it is. The bridge is really sturdy and the pickups offer a wide-range of tone and help. The only gripes I have are that because the body is so light, most of the tone is dependent on the pickups, but with active pickups, you probably knew that already, and that the body style isn't really appropriate for much other than metal. The finish though is beautiful and resistant to many knicks and scratches and the tuners are solid and easily replaced if you break one. Definitely a good buy!
