  • I LOVE this guitar!

As reviewed by Ryan Maynes on 2/15/2012

The ESP LTD guitars still have yet to let me down and the new EC-407 has me drooling. This is my second 7 string guitar and my second LTD (I have a EC-401 as well). Pros: Out of the box this guitar is gorgeous! The guitar plays well and surprisingly sounds great too. There are a lot of naysayers out there who talk down the EMG pickups. For me personally, I have been able to get a great tone out of these for the type of music I play (a djenty/metal/progressive style). The Les Paul body is unique and the guitar is well balanced for my tastes. I find it easier to play than my EC-401. Cons: The guitar does require a setup as most new guitars do. I'm not sure if the tuners are Grovers or not (they say ESP on them - but I honestly didn't look into it because I didn't care). If you don't like Les Paul guitars, this guitar is not for you.

  • Love this guitar

As reviewed by Amelia Michlig on 5/15/2014

This was my first ESP, first LP style body, first 7-string, and first guitar with EMGs. I have to say I'm not disappointed at all. This has to be one of the prettiest guitars I've ever played. It's pretty heavy, but that's pretty typical of LP bodies anyway. Also, being a 7-string, the neck is quite a bit wider, but it has that awesome thin ESP neck, so it's not too much of a problem. This guitar feels really solid and dependable. People often see ESPs as strictly metal guitars, but this thing sounds amazing without distortion as well. I'm looking forward to many jam sessions with it.

  • Great deal, another great ESP

As reviewed by Andrew Callais on 4/9/2012

For the price, this guitar really impressed me. I've owned a Schecter c7 Blackjack with passive Seymour Duncans for about two years now, and I've been very happy with it. Recently I've had trouble with the pickups not sounding as great as I'd like, so I made a trip to my local guitar center and found this guitar. After plugging it in to a Peavey 6505+ 1x12 combo, I was sold on this guitar. The mahogany body with the EMG pickups has amazing lows, especially in drop A tuning like I was playing. The maple top and neck add a nice bit of treble, making the highs very clear, and the set neck creates very nice sustain. The neck is very comfortable, somewhere in between an Ibanez and a Schecter neck in thickness. In my opinion, the aged white finish looks very classy, and it is also smooth on the back of the neck, adding to the comfort of the neck. The eclipse body style is also a nice alternative to the superstrat body style you see on every other 7 string. The body was also surprisingly light for an LP style guitar, and the guitar is quite comfortable and really feels good to play. My only problem with it is that I wish it had Seymour Duncan blackouts. All in all, this guitar is a solid deal. I intend on making a trip back to my local store and purchasing this guitar as soon as possible. I highly recommend this guitar. If you're looking for 7 string that stands out, and for a good price, this guitar is for you.
