  • Hands down, Amazing guitar for the price

As reviewed by Bryson on 4/1/2011

This guitar is an amazing buy for the price. Ive bought it when the price was lower however, even now it is worth the extra money and more. Im glad Ive chosen this model over the Schecter Hell raiser Fr with almost the exact same specs and looks. Features: See through black cherry quilted top, abalone binding and offset block inlay with esp mother of pearl logo at 12th, 24 frets, set through construction (almost exactly like a neck thru, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard (Mine was ebonized due to the fact that Ive requested a darker wood; thank you Guitar Center!!!!), mahogany body, Emg active 81 and 85 Pups, 3 way toggle, master volume and tone knob, floyd rose 1000 trem. -The features were exactly what ive expected but totally blew me away when first played seeing that this is my first true "metal" guitar. Youve gotta admit, the features are incredible for a guitar in this price range. Quality and reliability: Ive owned this guitar for 4 or 5 months I believe and every part of this guitar, to me, is meant for abuse....besides the paint, being that it is a STBkC (see through black cherry) finish and top. -I am very impressed with the reliability in retrospect. It came perfectly set up and tuned and remains that way to this day. Dont be turned off by the trem being a floyd 1000 as opposed to an original. If it can withstand my abuse and still remain in perfect pitch with no dulling of the knife edges or have no tuning stability problems to this day, its just as good as the original. As for all the other parts, there have been no problems whatsoever, except for the 3 way selector switch's plastic cap being loose. But with a little electrical tape applied to the bare tip the problem had been solved. -The quality as far as the finish and paint goes was almost perfect. Like others, Ive found small spots on the binding and pearl letteing to be a little leeched with red stain but nothing really noticeable unless inspected carefully. The clear coat on the guitar however was perfect. the provided picture does no justice as to how this guitar shines. Look and feel: The guitar is light. Not too light, but light. It is also smaller than the pictures suggest. I was expecting this bulky strat sized guitar to arrive in the mail but I was surprised at how much smaller it was than I anticipated. Its a good small though (not like a junior guitar). Its also a little thinner than a strat and in my opinion, how its portrayed in the pictures above; but in a sexy way......for a guitar, that is....The contours on this guitar are also very very sexy. -Today, the guitar looks better than it looked when it first arrived, seeing that im a total guitar geek, I applied many coats of very expensive wax to the finish, conditioned the fretboard, etc etc. But im sure that even if I had not taken much care of it, it would still retain the look from when it first arrived, with a little spray polish and oil that is... Overall, great guitar. Its well worth the money spent.Im glad I got this over the Schecter due to cosmetic reasons as well as playability issues as the schecter has a thicker neck, a kind of ugly fingerboard and a faulty push pull/tap mod on the emgs that sounds too "fizzy" when utilized. Plus I trust ESP more as far as the actual company and quality control goes.In conclusion; if you want a guitar thats very versatile but made for metal, is comfortable to play, looks amazing, wont wear down or break on you, and is shockingly affordable, get it. GET IT...You wont be dissapointed unless you hate CNC'd guitars or ESP/LTD.

  • A Classy Guitar

As reviewed by Stallito on 7/17/2010

I had a choice between Schecter Hell Raiser FR and ESP LTD H-100QM.Hands down...The ESP.Only because ESP had all the Abalone all over the side of the neck.It looks like the guitar worth more than the cost "dress for less".As for the sound, versality,it rocks along with my Spider Valves. And Oh! The EMG pickups doe'nt come battery powered like The Schecter.which thats a plus.Like my grandfather use to say "More Kicks less Clicks".

  • AMAZING guitar

As reviewed by Greg A on 6/7/2010

Ok firstly I'd like to say this guitar is AMAZING. I had a friend who had this and these deluxe series are just straight up phenomenal. They stay in tune EXTREMELY well, the EMG pickups give it a KILLER heavy tone, and it was already amazingly setup. The only thing I didn't like at first was the fact that it came with 9 gauge strings, so I changed them to BT-10 10 52 DR strings, and now it sounds SO heavy! It's insane and was worth every penny.
