  I did some reading of reviews on this guitar before I bought it, and I have to say: they are pretty spot on. I have a Gibson Les Paul Classic that I loooooove playing. It's definitely the nicest guitar in my collection. Can't beat it for the tone, craftsmanship and playability. However it has a fixed tune-o-matic bridge and not a Floyd Rose. I play out every weekend and I really like doing Dimebag like dive bomb "fills" and stuff in the songs we play. I can't do that with the Gibson, and I usually don't even bring it out any more. So I started looking for something "Gibson like" that wouldn't cost the same as the Gibson Axecess. A lot of people pointed to the EXP LTD line-up and said it's as close as I can get without spending a lot. Well ...I'm pretty sure they're right!! The tone (even with the EMGs) is not as crunchy and sustainful as the 496R and 500T pickups, but it's still pretty sweet sounding. I've got 2 other guitars with EMGs in them that don't sound as sweet as the Gibson, BUT the ESP does sound as sweet as the other two - which ain't too bad. I have a Schecter Hellraiser V-1 FR that has been my go to guitar for playing out for over a year now. I love this guitar, too; and let me tell you: I can see the ESP replacing this as my main gigging guitar. It's stylish with all that abalone. It has the crunchy tone I like with the EMGs. And the Floyd Rose does exactly what it's suppose to: keeps the guitar in tune while allowing me to pull and push it to the limits. This is definitely a serious guitar - for the price range I think it'd be pretty hard to beat.

  Had this guitar for about a month now and I love it. I was looking for a Les Paul style guitar with a Floyd Rose and this guitar does not dissapoint. It looks absolutely beautiful, plays like a dream and sounds amazing. The EMG 81 and 60 sound great. The Floyd Rose 1000 stays in perfect tune. The abalone binding and inlays look beautiful. The neck is a fast neck. Very similiar to the speedy necks of other ESP/LTD models. If your in the matket for a Les Paul style guitar with a Floyd this is your answer.

• Great guitar but room for improvement

  This guitar has perfect tone! The playability is only average. what i love about the playability is the short scale making the strings perfectly tense but not too tense in drop c with ernie ball beefy slinkeys. the only two bad aspects of the playability are that the floyd tends to go just a little bit out of tune if you go crazy on it, and the frets are very buzzy unless you set the action kinda undesireably high. the fret buzz issue is prevalent with most if not every EC-1000, i own the FR and have played two others that are not the FR and they all have either fret buzz or a high action. If you have the money to get all the frets leveled and dressed or replaced you can make this THE PERFECT GUITAR for anyone who uses the floyd rose lightly to moderately. The sound/tone on this guitar is absolutely professional, I would recommend buying this guitar and getting the frets done or just saving up and getting the ESP eclipse or eclipse fr, this guitar and the actuall eclipse sound exactly the same, Excellent, but the eclipse has better playability unless you get the frets on the LTD ec-1000 redone so you can have a lower action.
