Great Bass for the money. Finish is outstanding and the active eq lets you dial in a wide range of sounds. The black chrome hardware really looks great. I would recommend this bass to anyone. The only flaws I've found were 2 small spots on the neck that were sanded a little too much, just enough to be noticed when you slide up the neck, but not enough to be annoying.
First I'd like to note I returned an Ibanez 300M for the ESP LTD D-4 thinking it was a more stable bass because of the neck through body construction, I should have kept it. The Ibanez has the thump, pop & snap I was looking for but had a little buzzing in the same areas like the ESP LTD D-4, but the buzzing was easily corrected although it added very minor, hardly noticed buzzing elsewhere on the neck in places I really like to improvise on the bass, otherwise it could have easily been overlooked. The LTD D-4 had buzzing at the low E & A frets near the nut. Had to add more bow in the neck to silence the buzzing, this increased the distance of the strings to the neck. lowering the strings did a little good but the buzzing returned. My opinion is the playing action should be relaxed and laying just along the neck above the frets for excellent execution of your playing technique with no struggle. Maybe I got a model that was a little off ESP's specifications but overall it's a good bass with neck through, active electronics and all. Ultimately, I purchased an Ibanez 400QM. It's a step up from the 300M and should really satisfy the bass needs I'm looking for from a bass in this price range. I'm waiting for the arrival of the Ibanez 400QM and have not experienced it to rate it, as for the ESP LTD D-4, if I was at a store with inventory I would have tried another before I exchanged it. Anyway, the buzzing problem was the only thing I could find wrong with it.
i got this bass for 250 bucks and its the best investment i have ever made the only downer is the pups arent EMGs but other than that this bass kicks Butt!!
