This beautiful 6-string ESP bass has a mahogany body with a flamed maple top that is left au natural giving it an elegant light wood tone. If it weren't for the two walnut stripes of walnut and the slightly paler maple of the 5-piece neck-thru design you'd almost swear the body of the B-1006 bass guitar was all cut from the same wood. While the guitar doesn't have much frills other than beveled edges, graceful woodgrain lines, subtle dot inlays, and black hardware in the aesthetic department, it more than makes up for it in its electronics. Helping you get the most tone out of this stunning axe are an EMG 45TW bridge pickup with a push-pull coil tap on volume knob, EMG 45P6 active neck pickup, and an EMG B64 3-band active EQ. The thin "U" neck contour and double cutaway design on this 34" scale B-1006 bass makes it easy to access all 6 strings and 24 XJ frets while a Hipshot bridge and Hipshot tuners help keep your strings in position and tune no matter how hard you're digging.

I was able to jam on this bass for about 6 hours in a music store near my place. This is a great 6-String bass, but it definately has some turn downs as it has great things.
First, the neck-through construction gives you a lot of sustain, making it a really nice bass for playing slow groovie lines. The action is great, at least in the one I played, making it also really easy to play fast technical lines. The 3 band EQ gives you a lot of control over the sound, and having 6-strings and 24 frets you have a lot of notes to play. The pick-ups give a sounds that's full off attack and that has a lot of space to moddify with the EQ, but the bridge pick-up was a bit muddy to my taste. The finish of the bass is perfect, beautiful wood, yet a bit simple for my personal taste, the finger board might also be a little too common, but thats just personal aesthetic tastes.
On the other hand, I'd say that even having a a great sound, the string spacing was a bit too big for me, making some things I played a bit rough on the edges. I also had a bit of a hard time figuring out the controls for the EQ without the owner manual. Last but not least, The body is kinda big, making it look a bit out of place when I played.
Finally, I'd recomend this bass to anyone who's ever played another 6-String and has the experience, and even to some daring 6-string starters. Its a really good bass, the feautures overcome the failures making these look as nothing.
