The EMG-GC21 SA pickup and pickguard set combines the attributes of the early Stratocasters sound but with an added midrange response and higher output, giving it "bell-like" ringing harmonics and increased sustain. One single Alnico bar magnet delivers classic overdrive with a smooth midrange distortion, while still retaining the familiar high-end of a single-coil pickup. These characteristics provide greater versatility than what is normally found in single-coil guitar pickups. Favorites of Steve Lukather and David Gilmour just to name two, the EMG-GC21 SA Set comes with volume and tone controls, and a five-position switch which is all ready to mount onto your pickguard.

Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect cables (3), prewired control set including volume, 2 tone controls, 5-way selection switch (black & white knobs), output jack, and battery clip, screws & springs.

Easy to Install GREAT SOUND!!

By Erik Monson

from Elk River, MN

I purchased this prewired pickguard set to replace an old EMG setup in my JV Stratocaster. Total install time was around 30 min. It took me another hour of tinkering and tweaking to get the height adjustments done to my liking. The plug and play (solder-less)design is also very nice because if I decide to swap out one of the pickups in the future, I wont have to deal with my soldering iron. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the sound of this set. It's so quiet! and it looks great! I was also pleasantly surprised at how good the pickguard looked once it was installed. I've received many compliments on the clean sound of my guitar, and I'm impressed with the range of tones I'm able to achieve with this set. Well worth the money!

as expected, perfect.

By matt

I live in Austin and used to do the live music scene, now more of a hobbyist, I wanted to fix up my scratchy-potted, bad-switch setup with a fail-safe option. This is it. When first plugged in, turned up to "3" was too loud, based on past pickups. The new harmonic possibilities are mind-boggling. Installed on a MIM std body perfectly, except: 1. fitting the battery under the pots was a little tight, and 2. mine happened to have the middle and neck tone connectors hooked up backwards. No biggie, I just switched 'em out. Slightly upgraded since the pictures, it has simple 'computer motherboard' type connectors, very easy, very pleased.

Picked up a set of the EMGs. I had no idea how easy they were to install - No Solder joints at all! Once installed and new strings in place the old Strat sounded awsome. Took it to Palmdale GC and the boys down there loved the sound. On the down side there were a couple of screw holes that did not line up. No big deal but it speaks of "Attention to Detail."

Well Worth the Money

By Mark

from Issaquah, WA

If you need to salvage a low-end, no-name, Strat-style, this really does the trick. You know the kind, the ones that come in the packages for beginners - mine is a Stagg. All the visible parts of the guitar were actually pretty decent. It just sounded something awful because of the very low-end electronics. Not wanting to spend a bloody fortune on a name-brand and taking the advise of the GC email tech guy, I decided to give this a shot. Fortunately, the pickguard covered the area of the old pickguard and fit the fretboard and bridge perfectly. The electronics needed to be persuaded into place by using a Dremel to route out more area for the lower tone control pot and the selector switch. Once that was complete it fit right in place and with a few new holes drilled for the pickguard mounting screws, the conversion was made. I put on new strings, adjusted up the pickups and tried it out. It sounds wonderful even when compared to my son's Gibson. Exactly as the product description claims. For the amount of money that I have in this guitar, I am extremely satisified and heartily recommend the purchase of this product.
