The EMG-ACS has already become the pickup of choice for acoustic artists. Champion fingerstylist Pat Kirtley is only one of many players who have discovered the ACS. The perfect mix of EMG Technology and design come together in the ACS Acoustic Sound Hole Pickup.
Only an active design can deliver the kind of frequency response, output, and quiet performance needed in a soundhole pickup. The ACS employs a unique internal preamp that has been tailored for the phase and frequency response of an acoustic guitar. Full, clear tone is effortlessly produced by the ACS, with a great balance from low to high strings, yet it retains a brilliant top-end favored in acoustic guitar tone.
The ACS can also be used in combination with the AS93U or AS125U pickup systems for even greater flexibility. Low impedance output gives you a host of features unavailable from any other sound-hole pickup.
Recording direct to tape is a true pleasure. The result is not only great tone in the studio, but live performances are a joy because of the great tone and ample output before feedback occurs. Adjustable pole pieces allow for easy string balance no matter what type of strings you use. The ACS Pickup has an on-board fingertip volume control for easy level adjustment. A single piece mounting bracket and the EMG Quik-Connector allow effortless installation and removal.

I added this pickup to my Epiphone el-00, and install was a bit tough. This guitar is thin, so my arm didn't reach through the guitar to align the jack to its drilled hole. I did get it eventually with a guide rod, but the install was a bit tough, not because of this product, but because of the guitar - more common dreadnaughts and jumbo's would be easy. The instructions were clear, and helped you every step along. You do need the right tools and clamps when drilling the jack hole to keep the guitar steady and not damage the finish. Once installed, it sounds great! It is so nice to be able to adjust each magnet to the strings, and totally customize each string. This is a great product to be able to take a great acoustic guitar, and make it into a stage player, and with minimal modifications, and change in appearance.
This pickup can either make your acoustic guitar sound awesome or hardcore... Almost no feedback at all.
The pickup got shipped here just in time. I was able to play along with electric guitars and bass with drums... and it delivered through a 40 watt tube amp. Even with overdrive!! Amazing pickup. I would suggest someone looking for a really nice acoustic sound to go with a microphone or undersaddle pickup... However, if you wanna rock out with your acoustic guitar, this EMG is the one for you.
I installed the pickup myself which was a breeze. They have changed the endpin jack to a regular threaded jack which requires you to put your arm thru the soundhole to attach and tighten the nut onto the endpin (would have been easier with thinner arms) but I though that would be an improvement over the jack shown. I was a bit anxious about drilling a 1/2 inch hole, but bought a new unibit at Home Depot so it would be sharp and went thru with no issues. A couple of quick connects and you're live. I had to do very little adjustments of the pickups - The EMG website recommends removing the b-string pickup completely and lowering the hi-e pickup below the surface because they are otherwise very loud. But other than that it was pretty much plug and play. Nice warm sound that I get raw from my 36 year old Alvarez Yari. Very pleased.
