The JHZ Pickup Set uses a stacked design with ceramic magnets and a laminated steel core. Includes one long (bridge) pickup and one short (neck) pickup. EMG's exclusive 5-wire Quik-Connect™ output allows any number of wiring combinations. HZ pickups are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.
I bought these pickups because I've played on EMG pickups before and put out a really good sound. Sadly I couldn't afford the Schecter I wanted so I figured I would slap these babys into my old Yamaha bass. Once I got home and played around with them for awhile I was really surprised how good the sound was. The lows and mids stand out a lot more than the mid/highs and high notes. Plus the way these pickups hold a clean note blew me away. From the cost of the pickups and getting them installed it was an upgrade I would recommend.
I replaced the stock pickups of my MIM Fender took a bit longer to install the bridge pickup (pickup slightly larger than pickup slot) but once installed & tested, I definitely liked the sound after messing w/ volume& tone to achieve the sound I wanted. Plus they are quiet!! I'm sure there are better pickups out there, but if you're looking for a cost effective upgrade from stock pickups, I would recommend these pups
