EMG H4 Passive Electric Guitar Humbucker Pickup (308006)
Availability:

The bridge pickup of choice for leading manufacturers.

The H4 is the equivalent of EMG's 81 Active Pickup without the "active" that uses two "bar" loaded coils for "balls to the walls" tone. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire quick-connect output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.

  • Screaming Pickups

As reviewed by Shredfan on 3/10/2011

I have a Schecter Damien FR guitar that came with the HZ's pre-installed, it has the H4A in the neck and the H4 in the bridge. They have great output, the cleans ring and sing, and the best part...the dirt is crunchy, sustain is great and harmonics scream.

  • A Spectacular Passive Pick Up

As reviewed by Diznom on 8/23/2011

I have a C-1 Hellraiser with EMG Active 81tw/89 set, and I love it. I also have a Stiletto Custom-4 with EMG 35Hz. They are great, too. So I decided to swap out the stock pick ups on my Yamaha AE420 with the EMG H4 and the EMG H4a. And, well, it sounds like a completely different guitar. I see this sentiment thrown around a lot, but I agree with it: If you want to get as close as you can to an EMG active sound, the EMG H4 or H4a are as close as you'll get while still being passive and not having to keep a fresh battery in your guitar. And honestly, in the future, if I buy a guitar with passive pick ups, I'll probably switch them out for the H4/H4a set up. Great job, EMG.

  • Works and sounds as advertised; easy to install

As reviewed by Mr. S. on 5/19/2009

This pickup is supposedly a non-active EMG 81. It sounds the most like an 81 (to my ears) than any other passive pickup. It does have a little more low end than an 81... and it matches my other EMG 81 equipped guitars quite well.
