Availability:

The EMG-H3 uses two stud piece loaded coils for better noise rejection with over-wound coils and a ceramic magnet. This pickup uses the traditional solid cover cap in a unique HZ design. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire quik-connect output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.

  • emg hz h3

As reviewed by Terry(Tra on 11/5/2010

When I first got my emg hz h3 I got them from a guy who pulled them out of a Jackson. I installed them as the wiring of a Gibson. Sounded muddy So I went to EMG and found there wiring, and man they scream now. I put them in a Ray Truser guitar pro200 and I have a 100 watt Yamaha amp and a 15watt Behringer running through the Yamaha. If yours sound muddy go to EMG's wiring chart and it will sound good. I don't know what kind of wood is in this guitar but it screams for the bucks. Terry(Tramp)

  • Great

These pickups are awesome! Somewhat overshadowed then their younger brother, the H4, these pickups are just as good! They give the best palm muted tone out of any passive pickup I've ever used! Great for playing metal.

This is a decent pickup I guess, it really lacks the crunch of active EMG's or the EMG HZ H4 which sounds almost exactly like an 81. This pickup is a pickup that I wouldn't ever buy again, but if a guitar came with it stock that wouldn't be a deal braker by any means. I mean don't get me wrong, it isn't awful. But, for the same price you can buy the older brother and have insane tone.
