      EMG H3 Passive Humbucker (308004)
Availability:

The EMG-H3 uses two stud piece loaded coils for better noise rejection with over-wound coils and a ceramic magnet. This pickup uses the traditional solid cover cap in a unique HZ design. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire quik-connect output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.

  • emg hz h3

As reviewed by Terry(Tra on 11/5/2010

When I first got my emg hz h3 I got them from a guy who pulled them out of a Jackson. I installed them as the wiring of a Gibson. Sounded muddy So I went to EMG and found there wiring, and man they scream now. I put them in a Ray Truser guitar pro200 and I have a 100 watt Yamaha amp and a 15watt Behringer running through the Yamaha. If yours sound muddy go to EMG's wiring chart and it will sound good. I don't know what kind of wood is in this guitar but it screams for the bucks. Terry(Tramp)

  • A very nice pickup.

As reviewed by Kira on 4/5/2011

I have always been interested in EMG's,but I'm not a big fan of active pickups. So naturally I would want an hz.The first thing I will say is it cleans up very nice.Unlike most high output pickups.it gives just about no crunch when you play clean. So If you play lots of different style's This is worth considering.Okay now that we have that out of the way, lets get to the real review high gain. When it comes to high gain the one word that comes to mind is crunch.I find it gives me a great thrash/Death metal tone. Not bad for old school Iron Maiden stuff either. The harmonics are very nice and very loud.A great strat sound when coil tapped on the clean channel too.I also have one in the neck position and it sound great for sweep picking.Just a great pickup. And you can get a used one on ebay for around $30 which sure beats getting a used duncan for 45.

  • Great

As reviewed by Krow on 8/18/2008

These pickups are awesome! Somewhat overshadowed then their younger brother, the H4, these pickups are just as good! They give the best palm muted tone out of any passive pickup I've ever used! Great for playing metal.
