EMG EMG-MMTW Music Man Twin Active Bass Pickup (102768801)
Availability:

The "Twin" version of EMG's Music Man Bass replacement is known as the MMTW. Based on the triple coil 89 Guitar Pickup the TW is two pickups in one, single-coil and dual-coil, and both are totally noiseless. The TW uses EMG's ceramic and steel design for a nice transparent, not abusive high end along with a low-end that is just plain thunderous. Similar to the MM-CS, the TW has wide spread bobbins (1 inch) combined with a large coil surface area that gives the EMG-TW a most amazing bass tone. The single coil pickup is the same as EMG's Jazz Bass (J) Pickup, strong in mid-range. This is the perfect replacement pickup if you're planning on building a bass with only one pickup in the sweet spot. The MMTW comes with a push-pull pot that can be used as either a volume or tone control, or you can substitute a dpdt switch. When using two of the TW Pickups in the same instrument it is not recommended that BT or BQ Systems be used. Each bass pickup requires a push/pull pot for switching from single coil to dual coil so the balance control included with the system can't be installed. If you want to use the balance control, consider switching single/dual coil outputs with a DPDT toggle switch(s) instead.Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect cable, prewired solid shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, and adjustment screws.

  • Godlike tone!!!!

As reviewed by Chris Stankiewicz on 3/26/2011

I bought this to replace my stock pickup in my Sterling by Musicman SB14. My old pickup was starting to sound bad from excessive play and plus the fact it was getting old. I decided to purchase this pickup because it has a diverse sound compared to just a single EMG., thus being the "Twin" pickup. It adds a punch to your tone, getting such a clear, heavy low end, the most perfect mid-range, and beautiful harmony from the highs. This pickup is perfect because you can get whatever sound you want, ex: rock, metal, alternative, classic rock, jazz, blues, etc. If you are looking for a great upgrade, BUY THIS PICKUP. You will get your money's worth.

  • I dig it!

As reviewed by Matt on 4/29/2011

Guy at Guitar Center put this baby on a pretty worn out OLP guitar. I was so used to the quiet bull that my guitar had so I was blown away by the sound!! The lows were fantastic! It's simple. Has two knobs: Volume, Tone. One of the knobs is a push pull. That pick up is essentially a humbucker and a single coil combined. Pull the push-pull knob and its just the humbucker working. That's for a funky tone. Pushed down, you get a powerful, full, smooth low end. The mid end and high end is great! I did not regret this at all.
