EMG EMG-89 Split Coil Humbucking Active Guitar Pickup (102162682)
Availability:

Inside the EMG-89 guitar pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is an Alnico-loaded stacked EMG-SA. The dual-coil mode consists of two Alnico-loaded coils opposite one another, creating a pickup similar to the EMG-85. A push/pull volume or tone enables you to switch from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a humbucking. Virtually noiseless in both modes. The EMG-89 humbucker's separate outputs give you option to utilize EMG tone enhancing accessory circuits on either pickup output.

  • Great In My 6000G

As reviewed by John Knight on 1/30/2010

This pickup and pot system is great. I am rebuilding a Kramer 6000G with forged aluminum neck, and have found them to be the perfect replacement for the original pickups. They are great sounding in any setting, no soldering, and definitely infinitely better sounding than the original pickups chosen by Kramer. Plus they add greater deal of esthetic appeal to an old vintage instrument. Thank you EMG, you definitely have a future customer here. John

  • Definately worth it

As reviewed by Schecter fan on 12/31/2008

This pickup came standard in the neck of my Schecter. The description on the website says that this pickup is an 85 but with a single coil in it. That's basically it. Sounds great on the cleans and has a nice warm ring to it.in regards to the single soil sound, it doesn't necessarily sound like an actual single coil, but it still sounds great. Still pretty close though. If you like the 85 you will like the 89. Also check out the 81TW for more split coil sound
