Dual preamps and three coils for equally good humbucking and single-coil sounds!

The EMG-81TW Active Dual-Mode Humbucker Pickup is armed both with the dual-coil sound you know and love, plus single-coil sound accessed through a prewired push/pull knob. Based on the EMG-81 made famous by the likes of Zakk Wylde and Kirk Hammett, The EMG-81TW gives you both sounds with the best possible quality and the lowest noise. The EMG-81TW has dual active preamps and triple-coils—it's a real humbucker and a real single coil in one guitar pickup.

The EMG-81TW humbucker includes the prewired push/pull knob, battery clip set, output jack and a Quik-Connec™ cable to easily connect the pickup to other EMG products such as the Presence Control, EXG Expander or the PA2 Preamp Booster.

  • My favorite pickup

As reviewed by wannabekirkhammett on 1/3/2009

Along with an EMG 89, which is a split coil 85, this guitar came standard in the bridge of my Schecter. It is scorching. This pickup delivers a crazy tone on distortion similar to the likes of Kirk Hammett and Zakk Wylde, just as advertised. Now, the single coil part is cool, and for some reason, despite being an actual single coil, it doesnt seem to sound like one. Its probably just me, but I cant discern the difference. Maybe its because the last time I head a true single coil was in a Squier Strat. However, real sounding or not, the single coil does not sound bad, and is just as insane as the humbucker 81. If you're looking for something different in your humbucker, check this out today. It is most certainly worth it
