Overview

The E-MU 1820M Master-Level Recording System delivers everything you need to produce audio on a PC with professional results: 24-bit/192kHz converters (the same A/D converters used in Digidesign's flagship ProTools HD 192 I/O interface), hardware-accelerated effects and mixing, comprehensive sync options, and seamless compatibility with your favorite PC audio/sequencer software.

The 1820M is now shipping with the new Power FX software update, giving users the ability to run over 600 hardware-accelerated effects as VST plug-ins for Cubase and other applications. Power FX also introduces E-MU's first expansion plug-in, with new reverb and delay effects.

Provides pristine 24-bit, 192kHz conversion and flexible connectivity with 18 audio inputs and 20 outputs, 32 channels of MIDI I/O, Word Clock, SMPTE, and MTC sync, plus a FireWire port. Plug guitars, keyboards, and microphones straight into your system through 2 premium TFPro mic preamps with 40dB of gain or attenuation and 48V phantom power. 32-bit effects processor is hardware-accelerated (no CPU overhead!) and supports plug-in architecture. 32 channels of zero latency mixing/monitoring with super-flexible virtual patchbay. Full compatibility with most popular audio/sequencer applications. Includes a powerful software studio package.

The 1820M is also available bundled with EmulatorX Studio software as a complete desktop sampling system.

Want awesome Recordings?

Comments about E-Mu 1820M Master-Level Recording System:

I bought this recording interface on Sept 9, 2006 and am not disappointed in the least bit. The quality of recording you can get out of this thing is insane, now the DSP effects are at a mid range level and limited to the 24bit 48khz recording realm, but they do sound good and offer ya effects with NO cpu overhead. I ran a bunch of recording tests at the different settings all the way up to the 24bit 192khz and just to let anyone know, once you mix down to 16 bit 44.1khz (CD quality) you will not be able to tell the difference no matter what you record at to begin with!! That being said your masters at those upper "pro studio" levels are noticably better especially on vocals when using decent recording mics. I ran these test with a C.A.D. and a MXL and the C.A.D. sounded much better (just fyi)so I finished out the rest of my recording tests with the C.A.D. and the richness of the 24bit 192khz was without a doubt absolutly incredible!! Since all my recordings goto CD I only need to record above 16bit 44.1khz to ensure I get the full dynamic range of 16bit recording which is approximatly 92db. I have decided to do all projects at the 24bit 48khz and that keeps me able to use the DSP effects on the card itself. if I ever get onto a project that my end up on DVD audio it is nice to know I can do it though ;) The DSP patch bay is a total recording mixer and real easy to learn if you are use to using real mixers, but can be a lil tricky at first. Once you get the hang of it though the extent of how you can use it really becomes apparent. Also at the 24bit 48khz you can get the full ADAT out of this thing getting you (with the s/pdif) 18 audio inputs. YES a full 18 recording at the same time. In ending the most I can say about this thing is, GET IT and you will not be disappointed. If I was an evil person I would tell you to buy somthing else so I can greedily keep this quality in as few hands as posible. Also PCI interfaces are the way to go, USB has some REAL latency issues and firewire although alot closer to PCI still cannot compete so if you will be recording and monitoring on the fly latency is a killer. I have had this thing pumping out 75% CPU overload on a P4 3.0 gig processor with 1.5gig of ram recording at 24bit 88.2khz at a incredible 12ms latency and that is with samples loaded into memory. Good Luck and God Bless!!
