The E-Mu 0404 V3 PCIe Digital Audio System is the PCI Express version of E-Mu's Digital Audio System. The 0404 boasts a new high speed PCI Express 1 lane interface that can run at 400 megabytes per second and can transfer data 4 times faster than standard PCI in both directions simultaneously. By using a compact 1 lane PCI Express interface, the E-Mu Digital Audio System PCIe cards have the high speed necessary for multi-channel audio transfer, compatibility with new high speed Windows PC motherboards, while allowing full compatibility with 1, 4, 8 and 16 lane PCI Express slots.

The Digital Audio System software and drivers are compatible with Windows Vista, Windows Vista x64, Windows XP and XP x64. The hardware is PCIe base specification 1.1 compliant and has been extensively tested to ensure mutual compatibility and interoperability with a wide variety of motherboards.

E-MU Digital Audio Systems deliver everything you need to produce audio on a PC with professional results: hardware-accelerated effects and mixing, 24-bit/192kHz converters (the 1212M contain the same A/D converters used in Digidesign's ProTools HD 192 I/O interface), comprehensive digital options and seamless compatibility with your favorite PC audio/sequencer software.

The 0404 PCIe system offers 4 inputs and 4 outputs plus 16 channels of MIDI I/O.

A Vista-compatible version of E-MU's powerful Production Tools Software Bundle is also included, providing musicians with a host of powerful Mac and PC audio and MIDI applications – everything needed to create, record and edit music. The Production Tools Software Bundle includes: Cakewalk SONAR LE 6.2, Steinberg Cubase 4 LE, Ableton Live Lite 6 E-MU Edition, IK Multimedia AmpliTube LE, IK Multimedia T-RackS EQ (1616M only), Celemony Melodyne essential, Waldorf Attack, Waldorf D-Pole, Waldorf PPG Wave, SFX Machine LT, Creative EAX Advanced HD Alchemy (Vista only), E-MU Proteus VX.

Amazing audio quality at and affordable price...

By John Steskal

from Palmerton, PA

The Patchmix has a bit of a learning curve, but if you are use to a real mixer at all. It will not take you long to learn the patchmix. Packed with a bunch of medium to higher quality FX used by the DSP engine... your computer will have less work to do while tracking. You can also rewire the FX if ya desire, into the mix. The M-Audio DMP3 is an excellent combination with this card although I am sure the "Audio Buddy" would work well too. The only down side is... Email support only.
