  • Familiar Dynaudio clarity and imaging

As reviewed by Mark on 6/27/2014

Dynaudio drivers have always had some of the best imaging and instrument spacing I've ever heard. Many years ago I owned a pair of Dynaudio M1's (which needed 1000w of power behind them). So I was thrilled to find these at Guitar Center and when I tried them out, they had the great Dynaudio sound like my old M1s, coming very, very close, but in a cheaper and compact package. These units with their integrated amps are also quieter than my original poweramp and M1 setup. I tried them out against a pair of Adam A7x and while the Adam's were very, very good, the instrument separation and imaging were still better on the Dyns...and since I have been used to mixing on them, I ended up going with what I know and musically enjoy better (subjective call here). I think anyone who tries these or buys them will not be disappointed in the least. You can't go wrong with them, but your own personal tastes, music needs and experience may make another monitor a better choice for your own ears. In any case, you will be able to create great mixes with these, and if you do a lot of spatial positioning or electronica with subtle effects like phasing, these monitors will let you have precise feedback to control what you are doing in a way that other monitors can't match in this price range, IMHO. I should also add that Dyns can be listened to for long periods of time with very little ear fatigue despite their ability to deliver crisp highs. That can mean a big difference when you do this 8 hours a day.
