Improved driver technology and matched amp channels provide better monitor performance.

The BM 5A MKII Studio Monitor imparts all of the quality and power people expect from Dynaudio Acoustics, but this speaker has been reengineered to take nearfield monitoring to new levels of performance. New features on the BM 5A MKII monitor include handmade drivers that offer the best in quality and accuracy. The woofer offers longer excursions and stays linear longer, resulting in a cleaner, tighter bass response.

The louder and more accurate bass of the Dynaudio Acoustics BM 5A MKII is matched at the top end with a high-resolution, soft-dome tweeter that delivers unparalleled response. The added waveguide ensures less acoustical reflections and a more accurate sweet spot for listeners, resulting in a much better monitoring experience.

Dynaudio Acoustics matched the drivers perfectly to the BM 5A MKII's custom-designed dual amps to deliver maximum 117dB SPL while maintaining extraordinary sensitivity, resulting in a louder, cleaner, and more accurate sound.

The BM 5A MKII monitor's 3 integrated analog room filters enable adjustment and compensation of the acoustical monitor placement at both low, mid, and high frequencies—e.g. adjusting for bass boost at corner or wall placement as well as for potential high-frequency console reflections.

With the BM 5A MKII monitor, Dynaudio Acoustics took an established industry standard and made it better than ever. Expect the BM 5A MKII speaker to deliver higher-quality monitoring across the entire frequency range without a higher price.

  • Upgrade your sound mind

As reviewed by Don Belisle on 10/25/2010

I just received mine a few days ago. I wanted another reference point to compare mixes with against my M-Audio BX8s. The 1st. thing I noticed was the clarity upgrade to my ears. These are excellent monitors for doing micro tweaking on mix downs and mastering. I was looking for a good priced studio monitor with pro level characteristics, transparent non-coloring amps and good definition in the bass. These babies deliver and seem to me, less ear fatigue doing long session work. At low levels or high pumped levels, the focal point of the sweet spot is maintained, EQ was the same throughout. They just blow me away in the precision, accuracy of what I am now hearing in my recordings. The final translation of mixes appears well balanced from one system to another. I looked into all monitors from $300 - $5K price range, I feel I got the best sounding studio mixing monitor that I could wisely spend my money on. I am extremely fanatical about audio quality. Being a 30 year design engineer, I rate these Dynaudio Acoustics BM5A MKII in the prolevel. The price for a pair of them is remarkable for such a well made instrument. I call them an instrument, because your ears will love what your going to hear. The details of your material will be heard thru them. I also use them for casual playing of my piano/synth rack. Having the full spectrum of musical content present makes my WOW factor surge! My inspiration to create has increased 10X. That is what new gear is all about, sparking new levels of inspiration, self gratification and amazement of our abilities to achieve musicial highs. That?s what these monitors did for me. They took my music, to the next level, upgraded my sound mind to the endless capibilities. Of course I would by them again, or the BM6`s. Amazing product!

  • Great Value

As reviewed by Jim Robinson on 6/5/2012

I went to GC expecting to purchase a pair of Adam A7x monitors. After a lot of side by side listening I was surprised that I liked the BM5A MKIIs slightly better than the Adams. Both were great but cymbals sounded more correct to me on the Dynaudio speakers. To me, cymbals seemed slightly attenuated on the Adam monitors and they did not shimmer like they do on the BM5A MKIIs. Other than that, I loved both of them. Given that the 7" Dynaudios were priced similar to the 5" Adams and I liked their sound slightly better than the 7" Adams, I feel the BM5A MKIIs are a great value so I took them home. I am sure others will have different opinions but I suggest that anyone who is looking at the Adam monitors take the time to listen to the BMA MKIIs.

  • Transformer Issue - Beware

As reviewed by WILLIAM DAVID HOUSER on 10/10/2013

These sound great when they work but BEWARE.... Purchased a pair of these in April 2012... hooked up to very high end surge protection along with my other audio gear and no other equipment has any issues... first one went after 4 months under very light usage (less than 10 hrs per week) and spent 5 weeks being repaired and returned. I am now having the other monitor being repaired and told it is identical issue. The transformers seem to be "very poor" in these monitors. My extended warranty through guitar center saved me almost $350 bucks each time.... Dynaudio will NOT be on my list for new monitors when these go for good and no more warranty is left. $1000 bucks and a ton of frustration... NO THANK YOU!!!
