This Way Huge Red Llama overdrive guitar effects pedal is not a reproduction, but a continuation of where the groundbreaking archetype left off in 1999. Every single feature that made the Red Llama so mighty is still in place, right where Mr. Huge left them. Season to taste any amp, big or small, clean or dirty the Llama is the perfect compliment to them all, with a rich harmonic palette available on the austere control panel.
Spin the drive knob and go from a gentle grind all the way up to massive distortion. Use lower settings for defined open chording or juiced clean tones. Go a little higher for crunchy power fifths, and crank it up for buttery lead tones and tight, bottom-heavy riffage. The volume control sets the desired amount of overall level, but be forewarned: the output capabilities of the Red Llama are legendary, with more than enough gain to force even the cleanest, most stubborn amps to submit their headroom. Red Llama Overdrive is transparent and responsive to playing dynamics, offers simple two-knob operation, and has CMOS circuit for tube-like tone and dynamics.

Comments about Dunlop Way Huge Red Llama Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:
The Red Llama does not sound like your typical green overdrive, nor like your typical orange distortion. It has a personality all its own. There is a little solid state grit in the tone, especially at higher gain levels. Where I think the Llama really shines is at medium gain levels. You know how on classic rock records by AC/DC or Joe Walsh, as the notes of a power chord sustain, it actually turns into a clean tone? The Llama does that. And not a muffled, dead, tone-robbed clean tone like some pedals get when you back off your guitar volume, but a sparkly, vibrant clean tone. Very responsive to dynamics. Because of this, it doesn't have the super sustainy, compressed sound of your typical orange distortion box. Nice definition, with more of a British type crunch than a green overdrive pedal, and a bit of a raspy, gritty overdrive character that's not quite like a tube amp either - an interesting cross between a classic AC/DC/Rush/Joe Walsh crunch tone and an early King's X solid state crunch tone. I can see the Llama being a great choice for classic rock, prog rock, fusion, pop, and a lot of other styles. Maybe not the first choice for blues or metal.
