Overview

Dunlop Ultex Jazz III Guitar Picks let you dig in and grind, then jump to delicate, fluttering lines. Impossibly hard, yet absolutely responsive, these picks will reveal every flicker of emotion in your playing and still add brutal bite to the heaviest power cord you can unleash. Ultex picks are also virtually indestructible, hanging tough through countless pick slides, windmills, and other insanity.

The revolutionary Ultex material from which Jazz III Guitar Picks are crafted telegraphs the slightest contact, giving you an almost intuitive feel for the strings. With unprecedented resilience and snap, the Jazz III's release is so clean that individual notes sing out and artificial harmonics can be fired off at will. Practically weightless, with flawless, silky edges, the Ultex Jazz III doesn't emulate anything. It's the most versatile, expressive pick Dunlop has ever made.

I used to play the original Jazz III's, at some point I lost all of them and decided to try the Jazz III XL's which actually slowed my picking down because of their size. After a while I got used to the XL's and was able to play rather quick and accurate with them, but when I switched to these picks I couldn't believe what my playing was missing. I love these picks, everything seems so effortless no mater how fast and intricate I try to play. These picks have a very solid feel, grip easily, and are great for fast string alternating riffs as well as pinch harmonics.

I like the feel and strength of ultex, but these picks are too fat. I like jazz III's and had hoped that these would be a grippier, harder version, which they are. However they are not nearly as sharp as normal JazzIII's. They produce a deep/dull tone. Its a shame. Id have liked to get the benefits of ultex with the tone of the normal picks

Love these picks

By Scott Cason

from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

I got hooked on jazz size picks a couple of years ago. They do take getting used to but once that happens I was hooked. I started playing Nylon max grips, Tortex, which I still occasionally use but once I got used to the Ultex I'll never change. I used the Ultex Sharp regulars for a while and loved the material but now the Ultex Jazz are the ones I use regularly. They have improved my playing tremendously, they are so sturdy and I feel like I have great control over my picking dynamics plus the tone is just right for me not too bright and not too dark. I play mainly classic rock, blues and some jazz and the Ultex Jazz III's work tremendously. Plus using pinch harmonics are a dream. I highly recommend these picks if you want to improving your playing. It may take a little getting used to but once that's done they're awesome.

The Jazz pick

By Antonio Aguirre

from Longmont Colorado

These are awesome little picks, but not for me. I recommend the XL ones. While these picks aren't really for me, they're certainly the best Jazz picks on the market

Not for everyone, but still a world of potential

By MQ

from New York, NY

I'll admit, when I first got these about a year ago, I hated them. I was used to the regular nylon Jazz IIIs, and in comparison these seemed overly stiff and my playing felt clunky. Fast forward a year. These are now my favorite picks. Why the change? Well, I've always loved Ultex as a pick material - it's sturdy, easy to grip, yet still smooth. Nylon, on the other hand, is smooth, but too smooth - it's easy to drop, and nylon is such a soft material that picks made of it, even the thick Jazz IIIs, tend to damage easily. I tried the Eric Johnson Jazz IIIs with their sanded surface, but they play noticeably less smoothly than the regular nylon Jazz IIIs, though they are slightly larger and easier to grip. These, I think, are the perfect middle ground. They're very slightly larger than the original Jazz IIIs, and much easier to grip. In my recent experience, they play just as smooth as the original Jazz IIIs, only with even more control (the stiffness). You feel more like you control the strings. So I'd say to try them out - even if you don't like them at first, as your playing evolves, you might come to find they're exactly what you needed all along.

If you like the regular Jazz IIIs...

By Adam

from New York, NY

It's rare to find something that improves playing. These picks do just that. These add so much more attack. In addition they feel great with a great grip. I've tried a whole mess of picks including the standard Dunlops and the Dunlop Stubbys (the little purple ones). The Ultex Jazz IIIs are amazing for both speed picking and for basic strumming. Try them out. You won't go back.

yeah this pick is that good, i switch off between this and my eric johnson picks. This pick is awesome its made of ultex its great fro pick scrapes!anyway its the same size as eric johnson just made of ultex so its personal preference on that one, just buy em both. anyway, this pick is very comfy grip is superb doesn't slip. Tip is pointy as a dagger. You can summon the devil with this pick if you play the right stuff.

Best picks I've ever used

By Alex

from Milwaukee WI

They're easy to play with, stiff as a board so they don't flop around when you're playing fast, great texture/feel, and they just sound good. I would recommend anybody buy these picks. Even though it seems nobody has them in stores, ordering them online and waiting for them to get to your house is worth it.

My Two Favorite Picks In One

By Hayden

from Tucson AZ

This is probably my favorite pick out there right now. I love the playability of the Jazz III, and I love the texture and durability of the Ultex picks. This pick combines just about everything I want in a pick. The only thing I would change would be for it to also come in an XL size like the Nylon jazz three does. Other than that, there's really nothing for me to complain about. I think you'll like it.

The best

By Tim

from Los Angeles, CA

These are the only picks I use. If you like jazz-IIIs, you should definitely try these. They have a crisper sound than the traditional nylon jazz-IIIs. If you like the crisp attack you get from playing with fingernails, this is probably the closest that you can get to that sound.
