For twice the price, this would still be an excellent slide ring. The size is just small enough that it doesn't get in the way when playing runs, even with the slide finger; however, it's big enough to cover 3 strings, which lets you switch between almost any kind of slide playing and normal playing seamlessly. It does take a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it's like it's not even there. I have absolutely zero complaints with this item and will recommend it to anyone who asks, especially at such a bargain price.

It's an interesting concept, just poor execution. Don't get me wrong, it works well and fits any size finger but the scratchy side of the velcro HURTS. I'm really not sure why Dunlop chose to use all velcro and not a combination of velcro and elastic for the strap on this. Keep in mind, that if you are good at sewing, or know someone that is, you could easily get them to replace the strap with some elastic that would be much more comfortable. If it weren't for that, the Shy Slide might actually get 4 to 5 stars for it's usefulness.

Dunlop Easy Slide

By Doug Henson

from North Kingstown, RI

Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

I have purchases several different guitar slides, both metal and glass. However, I have short fingers and found them each to be very cumbersome to use. I recently purchased the Dunlop Shy Slide, and so far, I have found it easier to use and to control. My only complaint on the product comes with the product instructions. The instruction direct you to remove the stickie tape from the Velcro prior to sliding the velcro through the slide's slots. That is a mistake due to the thickness and glue on the strips. Slide the velcro first, then remove the stickie back in sections. This works much easier. Also, be sure not to cut too much from the ends of the velcro. Other that that, great product.

Thinking about replacing the velcro, but ...

Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

I was able to use it well from the beginning. Being able to effortlessly switch between the slide and the fingers is a wonderful thing.

Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

Killer little slice, keep in on middle finger and fully free to fret, and slide when you need to do single or double notes... Very nice recommend it for anyone that doesn't have the time to change from a traditional slide during a song.

Uncofmortable & Doesn't work well either

By John Byrne

from Austin, TX

Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

I was really looking forward to being able to actually use my slide finger to fret notes simultaneously when I purchased this product. I can fret notes but sliding them is another challenge. Not a big fan of this thing. The sliding sounded terrible and was extremely awkward/difficult.

Excellent if you understand how to read

By David Allmann

from Fond du Lac, WI

Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

If you read the previous reviews there is some good info. Great idea to wait to peel off the backing before fishing the Velcro thru. I would like to even improve on that, before fishing it thru slit just the wax paper up the middle so that after you fish it thru you can easily peel the backing off. Also, if you read the directions, it suggests putting the soft side on the inside so that the scratchy side doesn't irritate your finger.
