These Dunlop strings are an excellent choice for a Les Paul Guitar. They are loud and responsive. The highs are bright and clear. I'm very pleased with these strings and have found the strings for my LP-Standard. They are stiffer than other strings I have used of the same gauge, 10-46, and will work your fingers more, but I believe its worth it. Want your Les Paul to sound like its meant to sound? Give these strings a try.
Dunlop strings are The Best! Great tone, low tension and they last! Just for grins, I gigged the same set for about 8 gigs in a one month period. They never broke and I bend the heck out of my strings! I used to change strings after every gig, since all of the different strings I've tried over the past 30 years, would break during, or immediately following a gig. It also does my heart good to know that they are made right here in the Bay Area, by a company that has integrity and continues to put out high quality guitar equipment and effects! Thank you, Mr. Dunlop!
I will not claim I have tried every brand but these string are my favorites. In department of durability they put to shame Elixirs which I was using before. The winding would start to break on 4th and 5th string after just about month of light use. Not the case with Dunlop. These strings are not too bright, not dark. Very well balanced and rounded sound especially for metal where you try to avoid too shrill and fizzy tone on high gain amps. They stretch and settle very well in a matter of minutes, stay in tune perfectly with locking nut and next to perfect on a fixed bridge guitar (I use expensive Peterson Strobe tuner). I keep using them for years and never had a single string break on me. Outstanding!
Originally I was a big fan of Elixir strings because they don't rust a lot and stay fresh for around a year or so without good care. I'm very lazy changing strings HAHAHAHA. After a while I wanted something different and Dunlop strings had always peaked my interest. At first I was gonna try them out as a trial run. I ordered one six pack and put them on my Schecter Hellraiser Special Avenger. The sound I got with the Elixir's was pretty good, but I was blown away with the Dunlop's and how well they worked with the EMG pickups. I immediately ordered two more six packs and put these on my Ibanez RGD. I changed the pickups on it to Seymour Duncan Invaders and again same effect. I was blown away with how well they worked with pickups. Also, these strings don't break or rust fast. My hands produce alot of sweat when playing guitar and I can rust strings super fast and I'm also a pretty heavy hitter playing guitar. These strings hold up to anything I toss at them, be it sweeping, tapping, tremolo picking, or even going wild. I love these strings and I can't see myself going back to any other string company.
I've tried every brand of strings there is, and these are by far the best I've ever tried!!!!! They are extremely resistant and the tone stays bright. I used to use Ernie ball strings but since I have 4 guitars I would have to buy a lot of the every month, but now I only change my strings every 2 months. All I have to say is BUY THESE STRINGS!!!!!!!!!! I trust Dunlop for all the accessories I need for my guitar.
I've used all kinds of strings: DR (Dimebag, Alexi, and tight fit), Ernie Ball, Elixir, GHS, and D 'Addario. These things make all other strings look bad. The feel is incredible, there extremely smooth. The tone is about the same as DR and Ernie Ball. Durability is beyond incredible. They last 4x as long as ernie ball and 3x as long as DR... i didn't feel like getting up to get my string cutter so i tried to use my knife not even the serration could cut it. I even held the guitar by the g string and it still didn't break. Do your guitar a favor and BUY THESE STRINGS NOW!!
