The used Taylor guitar I purchased and received is beautiful in appearance and tone, just as expected. It's a great addition to the fingerpicking world.

OK guitar that wasn't retail ready.

      By John

Comments about Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Pick Tin Are You Experienced:

Another Guitar Center disappointment. It's obvious that this guitar was never checked out before it was declared retail ready. Here's the list of what was and mostly is wrong with the guitar when it was delivered to me. The jack was broken, the electronics aren't grounded, the pots are dirty, wiring to one pick up was broken.

When I got it home and plugger it in……nothing. One of the leads to the jack was broken off. After I desoldered that, I plugged it in and got nothing but a loud hum. I opened it up and found the wiring to the neck pick up was loose, and the pick up was loose in the frame. After fixing that, I plugged it back in and found another hum……no ground wire. It used to be there, but not now. That was when I gave up.

This is the 3rd guitar that I have tried to buy from Guitar Center that has been a disaster. The first one was not the guitar in the description, The second was supposed to be a MIM start and ended up being a squire series with a bent and twisted neck and a bad bridge. This is the third

Best buy I ever made! 21 year old Peavey Stereo Chorus 212, looks like it was just manufactured. Still had the footswitch and amp cover in the back. Even the electronics look new! Very happy with this buy!!! I won't share the price but I basically got a steal, seriously!!!

Comments about Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Pick Tin Are You Experienced:

This teal-blue flip-flop 2001 Gibson SG Special is a thing of beauty. Gorgeous enough to make my friends and family jealous, and that goes not only for the look but the sound as well. This was a used guitar, obviously, but it was well cared for. I'm a fairly new player (a few years, on and off), but this purchase has renewed my commitment to getting really good, and it's already inspired me to play longer and longer every single day. The action is beautiful, and my small hands can play for hours (unlike my cheap acoustic, which hurts me after about 20 minutes). Love this guitar!

(Just ONE tiny warning for others who are considering used guitars: Mine came with a hard case that reeks of smoke. Clearly a previous owner was a smoker, or played a lot of gigs in smoky bars. I'm allergic to smoke, so I have packed the case in my basement and am planning to buy a new hardshell case ASAP. If you buy a used guitar and are sensitive to smoke, make sure you ask the seller whether it has a smoke-free history! Though, to be fair, I probably would have bought it anyway, because it's that sweet.)
