Overview

Jimi Hendrix was the master of fuzz, an artist with many subtle shadings at his command. His love affair with the legendary Fuzz Face pedal began in the early days of the Experience and continued to evolve throughout his brief but blazing career.

The Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Distortion is a meticulously faithful reproduction of the 1969“70 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face model that Jimi used on classic albums such as Electric Ladyland. Dunlop's engineering department examined hoards of vintage Fuzz Face pedals, honing in on a few units which possessed that unmistakable Jimi voodoo.

The Hendrix Fuzz Face is built around the toneful BC108 silicon transistor. It is authentic in every detail, featuring a hand-wired brown circuit board with no solder mask and circuitry carefully matched to original specs. It' all housed in a 100% accurate groovy circular chassis with tooled clones of the original Fuzz Face knobs in the rare and vintage turquoise hammertone finish. A truly playable collectable for any Hendrix or Fuzz Face fanatic.

Features
  • BC-108 silicon transistor

I tried this today out of curiousity to see how well it would channel the Jimi vibe.I used a strat going through a super reverb reissue. At first,I thought what a useless piece of junk!Until about 4 o'clock on the gain control(there is only volume and gain)all you get is a thick, useless bass tone(!?!?).Past that, the tone suddenly brightens up into a thick, intense fuzz. That tone is certainly not versatile for many applications.But...when you roll back the guitar volume to about 8.5 to 9,suddenly you get a tone very similar to Jimi's live tone.I read that Jimi would crank his amps all the way up and use the guitar's volume knob for different tones.Turned down to different degrees, you can get a cleaner 'Hey Joe' sound to a bluesier 'Red House' tone.Wide open gives you a crazy fuzz, like heard on 'Wild Thing'.Overall,it is a cool pedal but certainly geared to a specific genre of music.I'm not sure yet,but I might buy it.

Love this pedal... but for $130+ is should come with a 9V interface on the back so you can plug it into your power strip/pedal board. The little things make a big difference. Who schleps batteries around in this day and age...? (Five stars then if you like using batteries but I say three...) The MXR one I own comes with a 9V jack. The MXR one has good sound but a limitation on the low end where I can't dial it back as much as I want. On the heavy end, the MXR is great, I love it. The Jimi pedal gives you wider range band or control and it's a great sound, it's warmer, I love this pedal too and use it with my VOX 15 Watt setup on clean which gives me a great blues kind of sound with fuzz over it... Think Jimi, Stones, Queen... I also have an ECHO PARK from line 6 hooked up to the VOX, which I can use to get a great U2 sounds...

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

Extremely versatile fuzz. I have played the swollen pickle and big mff and those don't compare if you want a Hendrix tone. You can get a ton of fuzz form this or tone it down and get a "like a rolling stone" tone that Hendrix played. Would buy a million times over.. I play it with an American Strat through a Marshall DSL40c. Finally found the perfect tone...

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

I have a G&L strat that I run thru this fuzz pedal to a Tube Tone Vibroverb 63' reproduction. I've been looking for a fuzz pedal for quite a while that would be touch sensitive and put just enough hair on the notes. This combination totally nails the Hendrix "clean" sound. Everything from "The wind cries Mary", "Hey Joe" to "Little Wing" sound exact. Most video demo's I've watched all demonstrate the high gain dirty sound of the fuzz pedal, but almost none demonstrate the cleaner sounds. The pedal is perfect for classic rock riffs and blues based rock. I run the pedal at 3/4ths volume and fuzz knob on full with the guitars volume knob backed off to taste. If this is the sound you're looking for, look no further… this is the one!

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

This pedal is excellent for certain players: those who have the right gear to accompany it and who have the time to really sit down and dial in the right sound. This isn't going to be for everyone, but I guess no pedal really is! A cranked tube amp really makes this thing shine. If you are using a solid state amp and are considering this pedal, just know that you are probably not going to hear the Fuzz Face at its full potential, so be very cautious.

This is not a "plug-in-and-play" kind of pedal. It took me a couple of sittings to tweak my amp and the pedal settings enough to get a good sound and to be honest I did not like it at first. After putting the time in, I have gotten a really good, pummeling fuzz tone with this thing and my Vox AC30. I love it! It is probably best known for working in conjunction with single coil pickups but I have gotten a really great sound with my mid-2000's Gibson SG Standard. So, I would recommend trying it even if you have a guitar with humbuckers!

I love this fuzz box. It gives me that "acid" tone I want on certain tunes.
I picked up an old Pignose 40V and along with my Dunlop Wah Wah this Fuzz box makes the package complete. The Pignose is all tube so it really sounds cool when the fuzz and the wah are doing their thing. Built strong and sturdy, with easy controls it fits the bill perfectly.
                Very good quality construction.

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

This pedal is simply phenomenal! I tried it with a number of guitars and amps (mainly tube amps but also played it with a Crate Powerblock which is SS)! And this is the real deal! It does exactly what it said it would do, it is a Fuzz and behaves as such. Simple controls, it's all very easy to use and roll that volume and tone knobs and the tone possibilities are all there for you! The name Jimi Hendrix gets used a too much but this time they nailed it! Please don't give this pedal bad reviews for not having the features you wish it had, judge it by what it's meant to do VS what and how it delivers! I'm an active musician and to me it delivers 100%!
