Overview

Jimi Hendrix was the master of fuzz, an artist with many subtle shadings at his command. His love affair with the legendary Fuzz Face pedal began in the early days of the Experience and continued to evolve throughout his brief but blazing career.

The Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Distortion is a meticulously faithful reproduction of the 1969–70 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face model that Jimi used on classic albums such as Electric Ladyland. Dunlop's engineering department examined hoards of vintage Fuzz Face pedals, honing in on a few units which possessed that unmistakable Jimi voodoo.

The Hendrix Fuzz Face is built around the toneful BC108 silicon transistor. It is authentic in every detail, featuring a hand-wired brown circuit board with no solder mask and circuitry carefully matched to original specs. It’s all housed in a 100% accurate groovy circular chassis with tooled clones of the original Fuzz Face knobs in the rare and vintage turquoise hammertone finish. A truly playable collectable for any Hendrix or Fuzz Face fanatic.

Features
  • BC-108 silicon transistor
  • Hand wired circuit board

No 9V Jack (You have been warned)

By

from Nashua NH

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

Love this pedal... but for $130+ is should come with a 9V interface on the back so you can plug it into your power strip/pedal board. The little things make a big difference. Who schleps batteries around in this day and age...? (Five stars then if you like using batteries but I say three...) The MXR one I own comes with a 9V jack. The MXR one has good sound but a limitation on the low end where I can't dial it back as much as I want. On the heavy end, the MXR is great, I love it. The Jimi pedal gives you wider range band or control and it's a great sound, it's warmer, I love this pedal too and use it with my VOX 15 Watt setup on clean which gives me a great blues kind of sound with fuzz over it... Think Jimi, Stones, Queen... I also have an ECHO PARK from line 6 hooked up to the VOX, which I can use to get a great U2 sounds...

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!!

By

from New Orleans, LA

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

This pedal is simply phenomenal! I tried it with a number of guitars and amps (mainly tube amps but also played it with a Crate Powerblock which is SS)! And this is the real deal! It does exactly what it said it would do, it is a Fuzz and behaves as such. Simple controls, it's all very easy to use and roll that volume and tone knobs and the tone possibilities are all there for you! The name Jimi Hendrix gets used a too much but this time they nailed it! Please don't give this pedal bad reviews for not having the features you wish it had, judge it by what it's meant to do VS what and how it delivers! I'm an active musician and to me it delivers 100%!

One of the best fuzzes out there

By

from East Bridgewater, MA.

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

Picked this pedal up in January, and I have to say it is one of the best fuzz pedals I"ve played. I play a Stratocaster into a Fender Frontman 25R (so a tube amp is not necessary), and, with the right settings, can sound very much like the Hendrix sound. Turn the volume on the guitar down so about 9 and the sounds will sweep you away! The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because of the oscillation when used with a wah pedal, but I switched the 2 pedals around and it sounds pretty good still. If you want a Hendrix sound, pick this one up!!

GREAT

By

from California

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

I have this pedal, and man let me tell you, it is great sounding. Granted, this is not going to be your cure it all for every tone imaginable, but, if you are looking for a GREAT, and i mean amazing Hendrix sound, which doesn't mean you have to play ONLY hendrix, this pedal is it. If you have the money for one get one, and make sure you have a tube amp, but this is one of the best sounding pedals i have played in a while and it will be on my pedal board for years to come, and hey, its Dunlop so you know the customer support is going to be good if it does break :)

Fuzz mania!!!

By

from austin Texas

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

I tried this today out of curiousity to see how well it would channel the Jimi vibe.I used a strat going through a super reverb reissue. At first,I thought what a useless piece of junk!Until about 4 o'clock on the gain control(there is only volume and gain)all you get is a thick, useless bass tone(!?!?).Past that, the tone suddenly brightens up into a thick, intense fuzz. That tone is certainly not versatile for many applications.But...when you roll back the guitar volume to about 8.5 to 9,suddenly you get a tone very similar to Jimi's live tone.I read that Jimi would crank his amps all the way up and use the guitar's volume knob for different tones.Turned down to different degrees, you can get a cleaner 'Hey Joe' sound to a bluesier 'Red House' tone.Wide open gives you a crazy fuzz, like heard on 'Wild Thing'.Overall,it is a cool pedal but certainly geared to a specific genre of music.I'm not sure yet,but I might buy it.

Not Bad

By

from Lawrenceburg, IN

Comments about Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Pedal:

This pedal is actually pretty amazing when trying to imitate Jimi's tones. I had to give it only four stars though, because it doesn't seem to have a huge amount of tone variation. This pedal does take a little bit of practice though, to get the settings just right. Also, I would suggest rolling the volume back on your guitar, unless you are going for an entirely over the top fuzz.
