Overview

The Dunlop JC95 Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby Wah pedal offers the kind of wide dark response favored by Jerry. The Cantrell signature wah is custom-voiced for a tight, punchy heel-down guitar tone.

One of the most influential guitarists to come out of the Seattle rock scene, Jerry Cantrell's epic riffs and searing tone have been the driving force behind Alice in Chains since the late '80s. His melancholy wah-drenched melodies in modern classics like "Man in the Box" and "The Rooster" left an indelible mark on a generation of guitarists.

A rugged side-control knob lets you fine-tune the toe-down frequency. And with its antique, oxidized "road worn" brass casting and custom Alice in Chains tread, the Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby is a wah pedal that looks as great as it sounds.

Power the Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby Wah with a single 9V battery (accessed via the pedal bottom), a Dunlop EC8003 AC adapter, or a Dunlop DCB10 DC Brick power supply (not included).

I had an original Cry Baby Wah but was looking for a better sweep and something in between the Hendrix Wah with more control. Overall great pedal and very satisfied.

Great all purpose Wah for Blues, Grunge, Rock - Beautiful Tone!

    By Sarah Isbell

    from Oklahoma City, OK

Comments about Dunlop JC95 Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just bought one of these Jerry Cantrell wah pedals after listening to a bunch of demos on-line and then playing a bunch of different wah pedals in the store. It sounds great & really nails the tone I want out of a wah pedal, not annoyingly bright on the top end (toe down & full treble adjust), and the bottom end (heel down) actually sounds nice & tight & unlike most wahs, actually sounds good, but what really hooked me was the tone knob aka the fine tuning knob which affects the toe down position - nice & warm but responsive when rolled all the way back, and a very beautiful treble response as your roll the knob up to it's max. And because it's a knob not a switch, it gives you many more tone options as you roll the knob up. It's like having a wah with 20+ tonal variations. I play a lot of blues & blues-rock, in addition to heavier classic & grunge rock, so I was sort of concerned about whether the Jerry Cantrell wah would work well for blues ... well, no worries, it works awesome for blues & blues-rock too! I tried out the Joe Bonamassa wah and just did not like the overall tone, far to brittle on top, far too muddy on bottom for my taste. The Buddy Guy had a classic wah sound, but just did not match the tone of this Jerry Cantrell model. I tried out the Fulltone Clyde wah but wasn't satisfied with it's Hendrix tone setting sounds, the funk patch was good though, but mainly it just made a lot of noise when not in use and really didn't sound nearly as good as this Jerry Cantrell pedal for it's main tone. I'm using this pedal to replace the classic Cry Baby 4 switch w/ boost I've had in my board for years. It was getting old & cranky to deal with, but even if it was new, I'd still swap it out for the Jerry Cantrell. Because of the amazing tone this pedal gets & it's just easier with the fine tuning tone knob to get exactly the sweep tone you're trying to get. The Jerry Cantrell wah does not have boost switch like some Cry Babies but I always use stomp boxes to add gain or overdrive anyway, but just fyi in case you use or want a wah with a boost switch. I thought about the EVH or Slash models, or the VOX, but I wasn't looking to add gain or overdrive to my signal & just wanted a transparent wah sound to boost with my tubescreamer & other pedals that would not add noise to my signal chain & this works! For my money, this pedal just does not have a bad tone built into it however you set it, and I found the fine-tuning/tone knob just to allow a much quicker & easier to use & wider spectrum of tone options than wahs with multi switch set options or lots of knobs. The ability to dial in any tone you need is a big plus. Seems well constructed - solid metal with the worn faded copper look, which is cool. Does have a plastic battery compartment that juts out a bit underneath (about 1/3 of the height of the little foot pieces. So just beware of that if you are the kind to remove/replace the foot pieces with flat screws to be able to attach it to your board easier. I just built up the bottom of the pedal with velcro pieces to do that same job, but would be nice if Dunlop would start rethinking the design of those little round screw-in footpieces when trying to attach to a pedal board. LOL ... But that's just a very minor personal thing, overall this pedal rocks - very beautiful tone, very easy to operate, sturdy construction. If you need a new wah pedal, I highly recommend the Jerry Cantrell wah ... it just makes all the good wah tones you want with none of the bad ones you don't. Well, it figures, 'cause that's how all the best players from Oklahoma, like Jerry, like their tone.

Messed around with it and i gotta have it. I honestly think this is the best Wah dunlop has yet to release. I think EVH's wah is right there in 2nd place next to Jerry Cantrell's. Theirs unlimited possibilities with this wah.

    Grunge heaven

    By Ryan

    from Idaho

Comments about Dunlop JC95 Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you play grunge, then this is the pedal for you. It captures the sound of not only Alice in Chains but numerous other grunge era bands. The look is awesome and the sound is even better. There is a definate difference between this pedal and the standard Dunlop Wah for a real dialed in sound. You can't really go wrong with this pedal.

A killer pedal and a must own...

    By #NAME?

Comments about Dunlop JC95 Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've used a number of wah pedals and this one, by far, is my favorite. I play a lot of metal/rock (including many AIC songs) and this pedal is extremely versatile. The tone and crunchiness is awesome and definitely adds a unique sound to whatever you are playing. Have never been disappointed in Dunlop products and this one is no exception... the engineers did a great job - sounds awesome, built like a rock, and looks custom. Tone knob is knurled and very easy to adjust with the side of your foot when playing. Worth every penny. I highly recommend!

    Crybaby

    By Tbrownbass

    from Hayden Lake, ID

Comments about Dunlop JC95 Jerry Cantrell Signature Cry Baby Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:

This thing has serious tone, a bit darker and crunchier than the original. I use it with my piccolo bass and it definately adds that extra funky growl that we all heard in the 90's.
