I think these will end up being my pick of choice from here on out. I've been experimenting with all kinds and this is the best spin on the traditional pick I've found. I use the 1.14; good, solid, stiff and precise for most types of metal and rock. They seem to be made out of some kind of synthetic (nylon?) plastic-ish material, and have a texture that creates friction. I thought at first that this would be a problem with friction on the tip but a couple of hours of use makes the tip nice and smooth so you end up with a smooth frictionless tip like a traditional plastic pick and a nice textured grip where your fingers are. And on top of all that this material seems extremely durable, the pick seems to be virtually unaffected by pick slides (so far), I usually don't do pick slides because I hate the way they tear up the sides of regular picks. Good picks.

I do enjoy playing guitar with these picks, but I feel as though they do not give me a real good feel for my playing. I would recommend getting the Dunlop tortex over these picks. These seem to be a bit smaller than the tortex which has caused me a lot of problems when playing. If you are looking for a smaller size pick, then go with these.

Gator Grips

By GuitarPlayer

from Undisclosed

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

Hands down the best picks I have ever used. They very rarely slip from my fingers (while most other picks do all the time) and produce a clean, crisp sound. In addition, they hold up very well. Pick up some of every gauge, you wont be dissapointed.

One mean pick!!!

By Bobby

from Vicksburg, MS

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

Went into guitar center a while back, asked'em for some tortex exrta heavy picks. Guy behind the counter asked if I liked super hard picks and liked to torture my strings. I said yes I do, he handed me a pack of 2mm's and they have become the pick I love. It's a little weird playing with such a thick pick, but once you get used to it they're great! And, if you're tired of picks slipping, get these. They're called gator grip for a reason.

Great picks!

By Guitarslinger

from Weeki Wachee, FL

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

I have these in a variety of sizes, from .71-2.0mm. The lighter picks are very useful for fast picking, and have excellent attack without slipping, and the 2.0mm are awesome for chunking out fast metal rhythms. Great price, too.

Review

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

Ever since I started playing guitar a few months ago, I could't find a pick that didn't slip out of my fingers. I tried Fender picks and the Dunlop Tortex picks. So I went to my local music store and got a few of the .71mm's. I love these picks. They don't fall out of my fingers and they sound great. I would highly reccomend these picks to anybody. Probably the only picks I will ever use.

Really Good Picks

By dude with guitar

from Abilene, TX

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

I just got these picks a couple of days ago, but I can tell they're really good. I bought the 1.14mm, which works really good for playing metal. The only things wrong with them is that they smell like fish food, and the powdery/fuzzy stuff on them rubs off, leaving dust on the guitar, but after using them a bit, it's not a problem

Great set of picks

By SMack521

from Westford, MA

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

I recently bought the 1.5mm version of these picks to use on my bass guitar and they are perfect. I have used other types of the same size that have bent or broken in time, but these are holding stong with me. These picks are cheap, look good, and are durable. They have a nice edge on them and work great for any picking style. I definitely would recommend these for anyone looking for a nice, durable pick for either guitar or bass.

Great Picks

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

These are great picks are they feel awesome. I do prefer the feel of the Tortex, but if you like something a little different than those, go for these.

Amazing!!

By Cody Witt

from Springhill FL.

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

This pick is interesting. It has the width of a thin pick but the crisp sound of a medium pick. Acoustics tend to pick up thin picks hitting the strings instead of the natural vibrations of the strings. With this pick you have fast crisp strumming.

absolutely amazing

By justin

from Massachusetts

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

these picks are just so grippy, i use the 1.5mm one, and they never slip out of my hand, and i do tend to sweat a lot when i'm playing so it's not uncommon for that to happen, with these i don't even have to worry, they also give me pretty amazing tone, you wouldn't expect just a pick to affect anything, but it makes my tone thick, and they give you so much control especially when trem picking, above all for some strange reason you can get amazing pinch harmonics outta these, and they last really well, i can use one for like two months before i even consider switching to a new one

Perfect!

By Henkka

from Barcelona, Spain

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

After 9 years of playing, I've finally found the perfect pick for me. Last week I got a pair of blue 1.14 mm's just for trying. I've tried all kinds of picks: Tortex, Delrin, Jazz III, Poly, Nylon, Cell, Stubby... and all of them failed at some point or another. But when I tried the 1.14mm Gator Grip I was amazed; they're the perfect size and thickness for me, they have great tone and grip (and don't make much noise with the strings!), and they seem to last quite a bit! My playing has improved incredibly in this week, so they've definitely become my pick of choice!

Dunlop Gator Grip

By Todd Blackman

from Norfolk, VA

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

The best guitar picks I have ever used. I had a real problem with picks flying out of my hands until I tried these...I have not had one slip since. This is the second dozen I have purchased and I do not see myself switching to another brand or type anytime soon. With seven different sizes to choose from I know you will not be disappointed.

Best picks ever!

By Brett S.

from Clearwater, Florida

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

I love these picks. I use the 1.5 mm guage and they're possibly the best picks I've ever used. They are slighly smaller than the popular Dunlop Tortex picks and have more grip to them. I highly recommend getting these picks over the Dunlop tortex picks.

gotta love suede...

By MetallicaFTW

from chicago Il

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

i love these picks. they are perfect. initially the material feels like its made of suede, and over time the pick will actually smoothen. but the great thing is that even when it smoothes out you can still get firm grip. i play a les paul standard and i use power slinkys (11s). for the slightly heavier strings these picks are great. oh and i use the 2.0mm. the heaviest ones. takes a little getting used to, but i will never use another pick again, maybe the tortex.

Amazing grip

By Brian

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

Best pick I have ever bought. Its durable and has a great non-slip coating. I bought 2 dozen of the 1.14mm. They work great for strumming, soloing, and harmonics. They dont wear very easily either

Great for any style

By Cres

from Voorhees, New Jersey

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

I've used this picks for Jazz, Metal, Rock, etc, and these picks we're great for everything. What I really love them for though, is how well they stay in my hand. I never feel like they are slipping while I'm playing, which is perfect when playing live with my sweaty hands.

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

Caught Synyster Gates pick, took it into guitar center and said I wanted to try it. It was the Gator 2mm. It's now the pick i use everyday. Great sounding pick with great control. Highly Recommend!

Love these in the 1.5mm size

By Benjamin

from CA

Comments about Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks:

I played with a 2.0 big stubby for quite a few years and just recently tried the gator grips in the 1.5 size and it is now my favorite pick. The sound is so much warmer and fuller than hard plastic pics, and the gator grips hold up well and feel good in the fingers. It seems to especially make a difference on acoustic guitar by making the guitar sound warmer and fuller. I'll be ordering a pack of 1.14 size in gator grips just to see how that thickness feels, but for now the 1.5mm gator grip is my favorite.
