no just kidding, but i did buy 2 of them. if you like jimi hendrix's sound or even a recent band like the white stripes youll love this pedal. as far as the sound being like the original i dont know. some misinformed people have said that now the fuzz faces are made with new harsh sounding silcon transistors. instead of the smoother sounding original germananium transistors. take it from me, the fuzz face is made with nkt275 germananium trannys. they even have a big G printed on them. and i confirmed this with a electronic supply that nkt275 tranny is a germananium tranny. i also switched out the nkt275 trannys with some other germ.trannys and the sound was simular. complaints : 1)the in/out inputs are backwards. all modern pedals input on right and output on the left. a 5 minute fix 2)youll need to buy their ac adapter that goes on the battery connector. or use batteries. love this pedal!!! also check out guitargeek.com they have an easy face pedal you can build. very simple

The Dunlop fuzz is a decent pedal. It's not the best and its not the worst. It creates a nice fuzzy sound when playing lower notes. And when playing chords it sounds excellent. I have a couple problems with mine. First is a mechanical error. When switching from fuzz to clean it sometimes produces no sound at all when I hit the switch....which makes this pedal a no-go for live shows. Secondly, this pedal, at least with my setup, has so little sustain. There is no way to crank out a solo unless you run another gain pedal in front of it. The notes just drown out after a couple seconds. Also, picking low to high notes, you won't even hear the high notes....if your looking for a fuzz pedal, do your research. There are better ones out there that cost more, but are worth it.

Great Fuzz & Great Look

About Me Experienced

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

Good sounding fuzz, cleans up well with your volume knob. Not much sustain on single notes using the bridge pickup, but when you play on the neck pickup, you can hold a note forever. I really like the look of the pedal. So what if it's a little big for your board, it still looks awesome!

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have never had a problem with these. Pump a Strat through a good fender and you get time for months. I keep my knobs cranked way up on the pedal and use combination of my guitar volume and a volume pedal, and what more can a guy ask for? Just sounds beautiful.

It was good... While it worked

    By ReviewManII

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this a while back, wanting to be able to get a nice creamy fuzz tone. I could for about 6 months, then it went haywire. It quit, no battery would work, so i put it on a power supply and it made a horrible screeching feedback sound, so I put it away for a couple years, until I remembered I had it. Plugged it back in and it worked kinda... The fuzz control does nothing it is maxed out all of the time, can't change it, bummer. Well it was great while it lasted, and alright now.

    Righteous Gadget

    By Woodstrat

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

There is a reason why the Germanium Fuzz Face is the best pedal of all times (it was right at epicenter of rock revolution in the 60s and it's still relevant today). This Pedal's got Personality. When you lower you guitar volume you get incredibly rich and full clean tone, and when you crank it get's really nasty. It also makes my wah react in dissimilar ways to distortion pedals, seems to have the same effect on the Octavio.

    What are you wanting?

    By Bougs

    from Fremont, NE

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought the Dunlop Fuzz Face because I like Hendrix tones yet I didn't want to pay the extra money for the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz. So far I haven't found that Hendrix tone, which is fine. What I got was my very own unique tones. I've ran it through a Fender Blues Deluxe while playing a American Standard Strat. I run a Barber LTD distortion in front of it, kind of like a boost. When I kick that on it gives the Fuzz a creamier fuller fuzz. Right now I do like it more than the Big Muff Pi because I don't like the Big Muff's processed sustain. I agree with other posters when they say you have to play around with ALL your controls. Like every other pedal you have to experiment until you find a tone you're happy with. This pedal only has two controls which is plenty. You don't kneed a thousand knobs on a pedal. If you play around with the knobs on the guitar combined with the knobs on the effect, you can get a thousand different distortions from this pedal. The only set back to me is the In and Out are opposite than every other modern pedal. I didn't pay attention to that detail when I was looking at it online. These are easily interchangeable though. If you are looking for an exact replica for Hendrix tone, don't buy this pedal. Maybe the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face is what you want. Although, you can sound a little like David Gilmour with this one combined with the set up I mentioned. It all depends on what you're looking for.

    Good For What It Is...

    By Allan

    from Oklahoma City, OK

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

So, if you are trying to nail early Hendrix type tones, like woofy, and amp is blowing up sounding stuff, it does that well. It does not get close to later Hendrix tones, but neither does any Dunlop Fuzz... You have to go Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz for any thing at or later than Bold As Love... just talking example tones though. has great characteristic clean up from your guitars volume control (it never gets completely clean though but whatevs) it doesn't have loads of sustain, but still a good amount. more like overdrive sustain with the sound of woofy distortion. definitely not in the same family as a ZVex Fuzz Factory... it was originally designed to simulate Speaker Breakup type distortion, not tube distortion, and this is exactly what it sounds like...

    Good till it breaks

    By Cody Newberger

    from Fredericksburg, Virginia

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

When I purchased this I was very underskilled as guitar player. A year after the purchase, a wire connected to the battery source broke and I just put it away in a drawer for the past 4 years. This past week I fixed it with a simple sauder job and it worked...for about 15 minutes. The features are great for this pedal. in fact I am dissapointed it doesn't work now because I have become much more advanced in my playing skill. I would reccomend purchasing a warranty with this, and also you make sure you have reverb on your amp if you want that beautiful Classic Rock sound. I think I'm going to buy the Hendrix Edition Fuzz Face.

    Just Like Pompeii

    By Kenny

    from Phx, AZ

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you've seen Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii, you've witnessed the awesomeness of this pedal. My idols, Hendrix and Gilmour, used this pedal to achieve their signature tone. This device couldn't be easier, plug it in, mess with the knobs a little, then jam out. With this, a nice stratocaster, and a good amp, you're one step closer to the best.

    Experimentation = necessary

    By Seth-P1t3Q

    from NC

Comments about Dunlop Fuzz Face Guitar Effects Pedal:

Other reviewers were correct when they mentioned that what you get out of this pedal is highly dependent on the environment it's used in. You can't plug this pedal into your solid state Crate combo expecting miracles, and you can't dime the fuzz and expect anything other than an unusable mess of Fender Blender-esque chaos. In short, you can't use this thing the same way you would use a typical digital effects pedal-the bonehead settings we've all been conditioned to go with won't be ear pleasing. This pedal is old school in every way-the tone you get is highly dependent on your ability to manipulate your volume knob(s). Set the fuzz at about midnight, adjust the volume to taste, and back your guitar volume knob down to about 5-7. That's where the nuclear sugar in the pedal is-hit the front end of a tube amp that's just starting to break up, and you can get some of the most glorious, classic OD/fuzz/distortion imaginable out of this box (circle?). The Fuzz Face is actually surprisingly tweakable: you can get a ton of different tones out of it by manipulating the fuzz setting and your guitar volume knob.
