This pedal is larger than most, a feature that gives you better control. The swing is smooth and the resistance can be adjusted to taste. This pedal is passive meaning that it requires no power whatsoever, no batteries or AC adapter. A tuner bypass jack lets you keep your tuner out of the signal path. Everything about this volume pedal is pro grade and I am very satisfied with this recent purchase.

I really like this pedal. I like the idea of a steel band drive. I especially like that it has a full range throw. Not all volume pedals have this. The housing of this product would probably withstand a nuclear blast. It's very heavy duty. The pedal is also passive. Another positive plus for me. However... I bought this pedal the first time back in October 2010. 3 months later the steel band broke. Fortunately I had purchased the extended warranty from GC and was able to get a replacement pedal. Today (1.11.11) the steel band on the 2nd pedal broke yet again! Could it be a design or a manufacturing flaw? I'm guessing so. 2 broken pedals in a row... I really like this pedal and I'm tempted to go for a 3rd. Perhaps it'll be the charmed one. I haven't decided yet.

Not reliable. Not gig-able.

By Noe

from Chicago, IL.

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal about a year ago because I thought it seemed more durable than the Ernie Ball VP Junior. But the Dunlop Volume has these two allan screws that repetitively come un-screwed so the pedal falls loose and doesn't hold the volume position you want. I'm in a gigging band so we practice twice a week and play once if not 3 times a weekend and this problem would happen almost every 2 weeks and in order to fix it you have to open it up and tighten these screws. Or else it just flops to the ground and doesn't stay in any position. I'm gonna be getting a VP Junior asap because at least that has the replacement string for the volume pot. Hope this helps anyone else who has this pedal or prevent anyone for making the same mistake I did!

Large but functional

By steve raab

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal feels solid and well made. You will need a lot of space on your board or have it off board. The tilt angle is a little awkward to my feel. I have it in my effects loop for a volume control rather than expression. For a passive pedal, I'm happy with the transparency.

Great for what it does

By Adam Myer

from Nashville, TN

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

Overall, I think this is the best VP out there. However, it still has some drawbacks. It is huge, and takes up a lot of pedalboard realestate. It also has an uncomfortably snug fit inside of Pedaltrain pedalboard cases. It will fit, but I don't want to see it damage or bend a strut. Also, for all the talk about the clean/transparent sound, it still sucked some of the sparkle out of my tone when running it in the front of my rig. Placing it after my compressor and distortion pedal seemed to fix that, however. Very smooth action, solid build, and a sharp look. The thick, rubber tread also feels comfortable and secure under foot. Has a dedicated tuner jack. So, apart from the size and the small tone suck when placed before the compressor, I think this is a top notch pedal.

Love it

By William Linstrom

from Fond du Lac

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I picked this pedal because I needed a volume pedal that wouldn't break and that was really cheap. I does just that. I've never had a problem with it and it barely affects the tone. You will only hear it if you have a keen ear for tone. I love this pedal.

DVP1 review

By Ryan M.

from yorktown

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I really liked how smooth this pedal was. It did have a lot of the volume swell in the last quarter of the stroke of the pedal, but that was a lot better than other pedals, for how beefy a pedal this is it relies strictly on a very VERY thin metal band to actually rotate the pot inside... I used it lightly for about 3 months or so, i was in the middle of a band practice in the pit of a musical when that steel band BROKE! such a beefy pedal should NOT rely on such a thin band of metal.

Great...until it breaks

By Gary Williams

from Oak Ridge, NC

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal on 12/28/10 and loved everything about it. After using it about 15-20 times over the next month and a half playing in my church's praise band, the steel band broke. I returned it to Dunlop (at a cost of more than $22 for standard shipping). I received a replacement, and now, a month later, I have another broken pedal. This time the problem is that the pedal is loose, even when the adjustment screw is tightened as much as possible. It only gets stiffer in the middle portion of the throw, and won't stay in the volume off position unless I keep my foot on it. Calling Dunlop looking for my money back tomorrow...

add some chorus and she will swirl.......

By Kris Cody

from Bessemer, AL

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

this is a much better sounding/feeling volume pedal than the Ernie Ball JR in that price range. the pedal is made to last and the tuner out rocks. love this pedal, if making the guitar swirl like Houser is your forte than look no further.

Dunlop DVP-1

By Bob

from Boston, MA

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been searching for a volume pedal like this for a while. Virtually every affordable VP on the market has one fatal flawۡscratchy pots, plastic gears, short throw, etc. Dunlop DVP-1 has none of these shortcomings. It's built like a tank and the throw is long and smooth. It's a big pedal, but it actually does what it's supposed to doۡprovide a nice even volume swell with no noise.

Good pedal if you have the room

By Jonathan

from Riverside, CA

Comments about Dunlop DVP1 Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just bought one of these from my local guitar center. when I was in the store, I didnt open the box. When I got home i realized that this pedal is gigantic. I do not have enough room to put something like this on my board, and neither do most people. Its a very smooth and good sounding volume pedal, but its super bulky and pretty heavy. I would get a Ernie ball VP, but the string will tear eventually.
