Being a beginner, I've tried many, many different picks and have been trying to find a great heavy type to fit my style of music. I mostly play rock and metal, so this these picks (the 3.0 mm) suited me perfectly. They're just so awesome and fast. Perfect for speed picking or any kind of picking for that matter. I wouldn't use the heavy 3 mm ones for just strumming. For that, I'd recommend the regular Dunlop nylons or any thin Dunlop pick. I finally found the perfect pick to suit me, and you will too once you buy these.

My favorite pick

By Adam

from NJ

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

I started using these when I played bass, and continue using them as I learn guitar. These babys will last forever and they sound great. Only problem I have is that they are really slippery after awhile. Use a knife to make some grooves where your fingers go for some grip and your golden.

Sooo Comfortable!!!

By jasonandaguitar

from Chattanooga, TN

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

People think I'm crazy for using such a huge pick, but I can't use anything else now. I never drop them and they are so comfortable and natural. The 3.0 mm is my favorite - more control over them than the 2.0 - Both are superior picks.

By John710

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

This pick has the right tone that you want for gypsy jazz / swing music, excellent for solo playing and swing rhythm. I cant play jazz without em!! I highly recommend these guitar picks to anyone for any style of music, as they are very comfortable to play with.

The ONLY solo picks!

By haushinka924

from Sewell, NJ

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

These picks are great for jazz and long, fast solos. However, I find that when played with chords, the thicker gauges get caught on the strings and eventually can't be used. Personally, I recommend the thin gauges. I feel they do a better job than the thick ones for guitar. You won't be sorry if you buy these picks.

Awesome

By Neil

from Albany, NY

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

These picks are awesome. It seems silly to be so thrilled with a pick, but I am. I got the 2mm and that is perfect for arpeggio style..Stairway to Heaven sounds much better. These picks are smaller, width wise and therefore fit my hand better. The indented center is a nice touch. I think these picks are slippery though, but nothing to complain of, just an observation. Get these.

Amazing Pick.

By Alex

from Louisville, KY

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

This pick is perfect for me. I was wanting a pick that was a bigger size than my average pick (Fender medium pick), and I saw these picks, which I bought a pack of 3.0MM, and they felt great. Since I bought these picks, I have noticed that my playing sounds much smoother because of the pick. It is very good for a Jazz sound, even though I mainly play Rock/Metal. It is much bulkier than a regular pick, which I prefer. This pick would be very good for a bassist that uses a pick, but I use it for both guitar & bass. The pick has a relatively round shape because of the thickness of it, so it produces a smoother, warmer sound than my previous pick. This is a great pick for a great price.

Nice Picks With Great Attack and Speed

By Baxter

from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

I was a lifelong Fender medium nitrocellulose pick man but a while back did buy some original Stubby picks and really liked the material but didn't care for the small size. These picks are the perfect compromise -- low friction plastic and classic Fender shape. I made the ultimate switch when I realized that the timing of my arpeggiated chords was slightly off because my Fender picks were dragging on the string a little too long. These picks don't drag on the string. They have a brighter, slightly harsher tone, but the improvement in speed is worth it to me. The least harsh sounding are the thinnest ones - 1 mm.

great picks for metal

By Bo

from Baton Rouge, LA

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

These Dunlop big stubby picks are amazing if you play a lot of heavy metal. First of all, they provide a lot of grip so you can do riffs all day and not drop them. Secondly, they produce a clean, bright tone unlike some thinner picks which may produce buzz if not used correctly. Lastly, they last much longer than most picks. The down side is these picks will screw your solos up becuse of the thickness. I have tried all three and i find the 2.0mm picks feel just right. As I said, if you play metal, you will like these. Not so much for blues or jazz players.

Dunlop Big Stubby 3.00 MM

By Nathan

from Boaz,Al

Comments about Dunlop 475 Big Stubby Guitar Picks:

I have been using these picks for 13 years. They deliver a loud, fast and sure attack with plenty of bite and seem to bring the bass out in my 6,7 and 8 string guitars. The attack is so loud it's almost sounds like the strings are being popped funk style! They are perfect for intense Metal or fast Prog/Jazz fusion. When shredding you don't have to worry about weak sounding sweeps or weak artificial harmonics. When playing large string skipping arpeggios or fast alternate picking lines they perform like no other. I play songs by Meshuggah,Emperor,Nile,All Shall Perish,Tool,King Crimson,King's X and many more and these picks have actually helped me become more consistent and expert at every technique I have set out to master. Turn them around to the smoother corners and you can get a wonderful smooth Robben Ford like tone too. Dunlop is the best!
