The point of the pick seems to hit the string without as much resistance as some picks do, which improves my speed and timing accuracy. It doesn't tend to get stuck on the string like some picks. The material of the pick seems to warm up the tone a little. I don't hear as much brightness and edge as I do with some picks. For rock rhythm and leads, you might want more edge. For fluid jazz or shredding leads, you might prefer this pick's warm attack.
I bought a pack of these simply because i loved the original jazz III's precison, but wanted a larger griping surface that normal size picks provided. The larger design makes all the difference when it comes to playing live. You spend less time trying to hang on to it and more time Focusing on technique. If you are unsatisfied with the small grip surface of normal jazz picks but still want the sharp point and quick release edge look no further!
I've recently concluded my search for the ultimate pick with these picks right here. I'm a big fan of stiffness for accuracy, sharpness for speed, and also a good size for grip and playing alot of fast accurate muting and pinch harmonics. These picks are the ones I've found best suited overall for my style for clear accurate sweeps and tremolo picking all the way up the neck down to fast muted riffage on the low frets. So far I haven't noticed much wear at all in the past 2 weeks either. I've tried Gel, Tortex, and Ultex and these just have the best smoothest and fastest feel to me and a great tone. If you've tried and liked the smaller Jazz III's yet need more size and grip, these are for you.
